Ceratosaurus

Anybody else feel sympathetic for the Ceratosaurus in this documentary? I did. I came to like him as a character. He wasn't really a predator that you either wanted to die or just didn't care about. And seeing that Allosaurus just maul him to death kind of made me mad.

He was a good character, for all the, what, five minutes he appeared. Of course, he was one of the main "villains" of that part of the show, and a side character.

Poor Cerato :(

That nasty Allosaurus killed him without remorse!

Anyway,i really liked this documentary, mostly because it showed (and showed well,i have to say) animals that usually don't appear in these prehistoric shows...I'm speaking about Syntarsus,Dilophosaurus,Notryorinchus and the Ceratosaurus itself ;)

I felt more sorry for the big sauropod that broke it's leg when it fell off the ledge, and was then set upon by three Allosaurus. What a way to go, just because of a single misstep.

When I first saw it in 2001/2002, I was in the 1st or 2nd grade. I changed the channel because Ceratosaurus scared me, and I hated him for killing the cute baby Dryosaurus. When I had the balls to watch the whole thing, I saw the Allosaurus scene as a sort of justification. I already saw Ballad of Big Al by then and had a fanship toward them.

That was in 2003/2004. I watched it 10 years later in 2013, and yes, I felt the same way about Ceratosaurus for killing the Dryosaurus, but not as much. Then I did have sympathy for him, and that painful choke of a scream as he tried to get one last breath of air.

In short, the times changed my view of the same scene. But then again, as I grew as an actor and wanted to play the villain I would have to learn to sympathize with them to an extent.

I have a link here of a music video to a more fair fight. But the result is still the same.

I did like the Ceratosaurus and his part in the story of the Late Jurassic. It was a bummer that he met his end by another carnivore but I still liked the progression of events. I think it showed amply how survival in this primal world was moment to moment. One minute you're pursuing potential prey, the next minute you are the prey.

The graphics in this video were some of the best dinosaur CGI I had seen, since the first Jurassic Park movie.
