The Beverly Hills Cop and Rush Hour franchises were popular action buddy style film series, in fact, likely the most successful if we are not talking sci-fi, but both series have pretty bad 3rd entries, which at least for now, seem to be the final entries for each series funny enough. Granted, both have been floating around 4th entries (with one actually being filmed as of this moment) but for a long time these were considered the series finales for each franchise, for better or worse.
