Did anybody cry at the end of the movie? (Spoilers)

At the end of the film where the chooper flys away and the ring falls into the water did anybody cry? I has the slightest tear in my eye. Just wundring if any guys did also, because i'm one...and MExican.

reply

Yeah I cried.

Because I realised that I'd spent £2 to rent this garbage.

reply

Oh, come one! You just can't be like that! The movie is really thought-provoking, thought the leitmotif was absolutely clear from the very beginning, plus happy end, because I'm sure they will eventually meet each other, notwithstanding the situation at the end of the movie. So it's definitely worth watching (from my viewpoint, of course).

reply

I cried for madonna because she looked more constipated than sad during that scene.

reply

ok i dont wanna see this but im thinking of it can someone just explain what happens near the end that builds to the chopper scene with the ring

reply

yes i cried.. i thought the ending was very sad.. they belonged together..

reply

Yes I did.

And by the way...that school comment is irrelevant. The money spent on a film by a bunch of Hollywood producers would never go towards funding the building of a school. But you guys making those comments are just SO hilarious it's unreal.

Somebody made it to the end of the movie?

it can be...depends

reply

Ok, the ending was stupid, just like the rest of the movie. Couldn't he get on an airplane and follow her? It's not like she would have been a hard person to find. I mean, wouldn't that be the logical thing to do? I know that "it's a movie" but it's a movie that's supposed to take place in the real world; in the real world, he'd get on a plane and follow her. I like sad stuff in movies, but only if the movie itself is good. I liked Titanic and City of Angels, I cried from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Serenity, but crying from Swept Away? It would be like crying from Pearl Harbor.

So hey, the ending made me smile. It made me smile because I knew that the characters were unhappy which is what they made me feel while I watched the movie. Oh, and kudos to Madonna for ruining her husband's film career.

reply

i dont think you understood the end. He could get on a plain but he thought she left him.. and she thought he did the same.
the reason he wanted to go back to the 'real world' from the deserted island was to test her, if she could give up the money and so on for him.

and then, when she left with her husband in the helicopter he thought she chose the money.
if you remember he had written a letter with an adress, and he gave it to the girl in the hotel so she could give it to madonna but madonnas husband saw it and took it, then in the helicopter when madonnas husband gave 100 dollars to madonna to tip the little guy, he also gave pepes letter, but madonna thought that it was the tip, and then the little guy saw the adress and gave the letter to pepe, and then pepe said who gave this to you, he said 'the madam' and pepe said no it cant be it must have been her husband, but the little guy said no, madam gave it. and thats where pepe thought that madonna chose the money(her husband) etc.
he ran after the helicopter and threw the ring he bought with the money madonnas husband gave him because he saved madonnas life.

when they both were at the island, madonna was scared of the thought that pepe would much rather have a young girlfriend, and pepe was scared of the thought that madonna would much rather have money and a husband she didnt love than no money and a husband she loved.
but madonna wanted to stay at the island, pepe wanted to leave, just to test her.

so, the thing that makes the ending so sad is that, they both want eachother, but they both thinks that the other doesnt want to.

pepe's back to his life as a fisherman, and madonna to her husband she didnt love. but they both just wants to be with each other on that island....

i thought that this movie was awesome. i loved the way it all came together. i cried at the end and did again the 2nd time i saw it. its a good movie. the way that they want eachother at the end when at first they hated eachother and didnt want to be together, is such a real life thing. and i dont think madonna is a bad actress at all. this was one of the greater movies ive seen.

A film has never been so eloquently expressed as in this classic of modern cinema, this giant amongst movies, the paragon of intelligence, fortitude, and decency. To call this movie a triumph is like calling Shakespeare mildly successful. Every move it attempts, it pulls off. A cinematic masterpiece. Bravo!!

I preferred the ending in the original Italian version. The woman makes the decision herself... eventhough she loved the guy (at least on the island she did), she realizes she's in a world with different rules & she can not be the woman she was on the island. It's not the real her

Madonna is a disgrace to acting, music and dance. Nothing but a tramp ripping people off her whole life. She will be forgotten.

reply

Whether or not she's entirely superficial, she's still an icon of the entertainment industry. She's been around for 20-25 years now. I don't think anyone will forget her for the simple fact that she represents a lot about American culture.

reply

obviously Madonna will never be forgotten no matter how much you dislike her. She is a huge icon all over the world for a very long time now. Even if she stopped everything and disappeared now.. she has made a very permanent and huge mark in history already. She's not an actress, but she makes likable, catchy music. Her sales record history speaks for itself. Her production team tends to borrow ideas here and there for her music videos.. but all singers and artists do.. it doesn't just develop from thin air.. every human being gets influenced with what they are exposed to at the moment. I think people just like to irrationally bash Madonna thinking it's "cool" to be disagreeable. There are things that I don't agree with or like .. such as Madonna's weird religion.. but I will admit to all the cold hard facts, such as she will NEVER be forgotten.

Watching it on TV, this looks like a 2 hour improvisation in a high school drama class, although that's only if the kids aren't taking it seriously. Nice beaches though.

reply

The wife is watching this tripe on tv now as well, I'm trying not to watch but I have to, to see if it can get any worse!

reply

Hell yeah its bad bring back World's Wildest Police Videos!

reply

Yeah, right. Biggest selling female artist of the modern era, shaped not one but two generations of female singers and still keeps doing interesting stuff 20 years on and is still sexy with it.

Forgotten, she certainly will not be. Unlike you.

reply

I only decided to watch this film because 1. There was absolutly nothing else on television and 2. I wanted to see just how bad the film was after hearing all the bad press that it had got.
After a pitifully slow start I found myself laughing at the fact that I could almost predict word for word what was going to happen, up to the point when Madonna is back in the hotel with her husband. Okay, I thought, she's going to run off and leave her husband and everything ends happily.
I was so shocked at the ending that it left me crying for quite some time afterward. I couldnt believe that I had been so affected by the ending to a crap film!!!!Guess it rings true to life though.

reply

I cried Thinking I lost a precious hour of my life that i'll never get back watching this crap.

reply

I actually liked this movie, ok some bits i got a tad bored, but in the end i thourght it was quite good, not as crap as it was made up as
