Doom VS. Halo
Which one is better? I'm going for Doom all the way. Halo isn't all that great.

shareHell, i still play both, and I have to say that they're both amazing in their own right. So let's take a look at both viewpoints while trying to not be biased.
DooM got me into FPS games (and games full stop, for that matter). Been playing it since I was about 7 or something. So it'll always have a place in my mind as one of, if not my favourite game ever. It's probably withstood the test of time for the simple fact that a) it's so important in the history of FPS, and games full stop. b) It's so simple, and so easy to pick up and play, but damn nigh impossible to play through without a challenge (especially on nightmare). c) You know you don't have to worry about complex objectives, you just have to get from a-b without becoming the next barbeque dish for a mob of Hell-Barons. d) The multiplayer is still massively fun, again because of the simplicity. though sometimes, people just want to play something more complex. Still, everyone loves to be a kick-ass soldier in green armour.
HALO is great for the multiplayer and storyline alike, and while it doesn't do anything especially new, it does what people want it to do, which is be a fun, decent-sized FPS game and have a good enough storyline for a lot of replay value. For multiplayer, it's great for the fact it can be as simple or complex as you want, and it always has an element of strategy needed to win (unless you're playing some total gimptards). Possibly because of this, and because some places on it are quite strategic and complex, it sometimes leaves me (and probably other people) wanting something much more simple in it's basis, so they still play DooM. Besides, everyone loves to be a kick-ass soldier in green armour...
DOOM is an absolute legend...I remember when it came out, it was the only game I've ever played that gave me an adrenaline rush. I was shaking so badly I had to actually stop for a while before I could keep playing. Games just aren't made the same way. It defined the future of 3D gaming...something Halo can't even begin to touch. Personally, I used to love Halo...until I got to the end of 2 and realized what a cop-out trash franchise it is. Nice try Halo fanboys, but DOOM is number one, and always will be.
Oh, and I'd like to see Master Chief try to take on the Cyberdemon. :P
I don't get the logic of you Doom fanboys. "Doom is older and better I played since I was 5. If not for Doom there'd be no Halo, so Doom is better!" By that logic, that would make a Model T better than a Mustang, since without the Model T ther would be no Mustang. Of course, Halo is better than Doom. It's newer with better graphics, more advanced gameplay, better story or rather actually has a story.

I can tell you're one of the children of the new, unenlightened generation. When you didn't grow up with the old video games, you look pretty dumb saying something like that. "Oh, Halo has better graphics, so somehow that makes it better." Halo was done before...it's called Marathon. Come back when you learn some wisdom, son.
Dude, that's just YOUR opinion. Personally, I love Halo because of the storyline which Doom lacks for my sake. Halo is the only game I get an adrenaline rush from. So there you have it, a different opinion and no reason to *beep* on it because you don't agree and you got your adrenaline rush from Doom.
And why does he looks dumb saying that BETTER graphics, makes it SOMEHOW BETTER? You look dumb not giving arguments for why that is dumb.
PS oh, and calling your generation enlightened is the most dumb thing I ever heard.

While we're on the subject, anyone else think Halo theme songs (Truth and Reconciliation Suite) is a rip-off of Doom's Suspense (e1m5 song)?
Doom obviously. It achieved more, more influential, more groundbreaking and revolutionary.
