Most depressing character

Timothy Spall's character got to be the most depressing character ever. It's almost comical. You get depressed just by looking at him. I mean this in a good way and I applaude Timothy Spall's performance. I think Mike Leigh really struck a chord with this one. I felt a lot of recognition. Almost painfully so.

I recon this film is what made Edd so dolorous.

The atrocious Jason. How actor Daniel Mays found any trace of humanity in his character is nothing short of miraculous. Two minutes into watching this ranting thug and I developed a headache, and even more sobering is that this was not an unrealistic portrayal.

Rachel the daughter working in the nursing home. She looked so downtrodden, withdrawn, and neglected. Her job was depressing. Her parents were repressed basket cases. Her brother was a jerk.
