I don't understand all the hate towards this movie

It may be because I watched it at such a young age, but this is one of my favourite movies of all time! I remember begging my parents to let me watch it again and again even though it gave me nightmares.

Diddnt know the film had much hate toward it it got good critic reviews an made alot of money an has a good imdb score so i dont see the hate except maybe from people against faith based themes in film
