Showtime

i thought it was pretty funny. deniro usually plays more serious characters, so it was funny to see his gap, since he was playing a comedy character.
and eddie murphy was very funny in this film. i literally cracked up when he was yelling out his name and his id number or something when he caught a fake criminal, in order to get scouted and go on tv. that was some funny *beep*
one of my friends was saying that she thought deniro was the best in this film. sorry but thats just not true. it was funny, but deniro acts much better in other better movies such as the godfather part II, the untouchables, etc. i think all the deniro fans agree with this.

This is just another horrid buddy cop movie, no different than "Hollywood Homocide" or "Turner and Hooch" (even though the sidekick was a dog) and I bet in years to come we won't remember DeNiro for his role in Showtime.

So, this movie sucks.

As someone who's a fan of cop movies, I enjoyed it. I know we've all the seen buddy-cop film genre done to death, but I thought it was clever for them to use Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro since, most of the time, if there was a buddy-cop movie, it's either two comedic actors or two dramatic actors [depending on the type of film]. It was also nice to see William Shatner have a role in this, as well as seeing him poke fun at himself ([about Mitch] "This guy...is the worst actor...I have ever seen."). It won't win any awards for "Best Cop Film of the Year", I'm sure, but it's a funny little movie to watch (also a good movie if you want to kill a couple hours. ).

I actually find this movie very funny.I actually think it was a little bit ahead of it's time as far as the reality show thing goes too.They had them back then but they were scarce.Nowadays they're on just about every channel.I found the film very funny,and I thought Murphy and Deniro were perfect together.Yes it did get formulaic at the end with the typical bad guys and good guys shooting at each other,but I still liked it anyway.I do get the feeling that this was supposed to be funny all the way through until the end,and I believe maybe Warner Bros. might have wanted them to add the big action shootout at the end.I don't know but I liked this anyway,and it was funny to me.
