The 7 Police academy movies all stand alone, the 3 Lord of the Rings movies actually all tell one story and first two end unresolved. They were all filmed at the same time...

The Oscar-winning documentary movie "Woodstock: Director's edition" is just over three and a hours long. It is long but the only reason I mentioned it is because this film rules all!
