I have a top 10 from x7 - 22

1. TLC II - Edge and Christian defeat Hardyz and Dudleyz (Tough between this one and the X7 Main Event) (WM X7)

2. Stone Cold def. The Rock in a NO DQ, WWF Championship Match (I marked out when Austin won) (WM X7)

3. Chris Benoit def. Shawn Michaels and Triple H in a Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Title aka Big Gold Belt (Finally Benoit got the title) (WM XX)

4. Kurt Angle def. Shawn Michaels (Dream Match for me) (WM 21)

5. Brock Lesnar def. Kurt Angle for the WWE Title (Lesnar was so over, and the Moonsault was very scary) (WM XIX)

6. Kurt Angle def. Chris Benoit (True Amature Rasslin') (WM X7)

7. Shane McMahon def. Vince McMahon in a Street Fight (McMahon Family Night) (WM X7)

8. The Undertaker def. Randy Orton (Lengend vs. Legend Killer) (WM 21)

9. Money in the Bank Edge def. Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Shelton Benjamin, Kane and Christian (Very Entertaining) (WM 21)

10. Edge def. Mick Foley in a Hardcore match (Flaming Table did it for me, I don't know why exactly. Oh and the tacks too) (WM 22)

"How tall are you?"
"Sir, 5' 9. Sir"
"5' 9? I didn't know they stacked sh*t that high"

1) Kurt Angle Vs Shawn Michaels (WM21) - First WM I watched Live with my brother. He's a HBK mark and I'm an Angle mark that's why this match is number 1.

2) The Rock Vs Stone Cold (WM17) - Awesome match to end the attitude era, these two went out there and gave it everything they had. The ending was brilliant as was the Texas crowd.

3) Bret Hart Vs Owen Hart (WM10) - Great old school wrestling, probably the first properly old school wrestling match I ever watched.

4) Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Jericho (WM19) - An underrated and often forgotten match which saw Michael's return to 'mania and Jericho try to end his career. Great match and rare example of old school wrestling in WWE (not WWF).

5) Triple H Vs Chris Benoit Vs Shawn Michaels (WM20) - An epic, emotional match and one of the best triple threats ever. Great ending.

6) Eddie Guerrero Vs Kurt Angle (WM20) - Another emotional match and a great display of wrestling that was never seen from Eddie (at that level) in WWE prior to this match.

7) Kurt Angle Vs Chris Benoit (WM17) - This match combined WWF style wrestling with amateur wrestling in a great way. Being an Angle mark his first victory had to get in somewhere.

8) TLC 2 (WM17) - Once again from WM17 and a great no holds barred fight and in an epic fashion unmatched in any TLC matches after it.

9) Shawn Michaels Vs Razor Ramoan WM10 - The first and arguably best ladder match between two great performers.

10) Edge Vs Mick Foley (WM22) - Awesome street fight, the flaming table was an awesome spot and something unseen in WWE programing.

Younger crowd here as most of these are newer matches. To each is own! :)

Here is my list. My list is compiled based on workrate, proper build, and overall importance.

1. Steamboat vs. Savage, Wrestlemania III. This was simply just an amazing match and one of the best of all time. Jesse Ventura even says this during the match. Very rarely does an announcer say the current match he is announcing is one of the best of all time.

2. Hogan vs. Andre, Wrestlemania III. The most important match of all time, period.

3. Austin vs. Rock, Wrestlemania X-Seven. The workrate and pace here was fantastic, especially for two people not known for being great workers. The buildup was great, and the music video was great. WWE cutting "My Way" from the DVD diminishes the overall product. The internet era hurt this match a bit as we all knew Austin was going to win because The Rock was going to film The Scorpion King.

4. Bret Hart vs. Owen Hart, Wrestlemania X. One of the best wrestling matches ever.

5. Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania XII. Iron man match that somehow remained interesting despite no falls for 60+ minutes.

6. Bret Hart vs. Steve Austin, Wrestlemania XIII. This was one of the worst WMs ever (WM9) but this match was amazingly good. It catapulted Austin into main event status.

7. Shawn Michaels vs. Scott Hall, Wrestlemania X. First ladder match on TV and very innovative for its time.

8. Chris Benoit vs. Triple H vs. Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania XX. Best triple threat ever and amazing emotion with the underdog Benoit finally getting his long overdue moment.

9. Hulk Hogan vs. The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan vs. Randy Savage (tie), Wrestlemania VI and Wrestlemania V, respectively. Hogan and Warrior, two of the worst workers ever somehow had the match of both of their lives and Hogan took his first clean pinfall loss. Ray Charles could have seen that Hogan was going to beat Savage but the match was very good as Savage bounced around like a pinball for Hogan.

10. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho, and Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels, Wrestlemania XIX and Wrestlemania XXI, respectively. Two dream matches with three of the best in ring talents ever that lived up to and surpassed expectations.

That's my list. I left out Rock vs. Hogan because it just didn't do much for me. I left out Lesnar vs. Angle because it disappointed me. That should have been the best match of all time. I know Angle was injured that night going in and the match was way less than it would have been if he were healthy. I also left out TLC 2 because it was too spotty for me. Spots don't always equal good matches.

1. Chris Benoit vs Triple H vs Shawn Michaels- Wrestlemania XX
2. Hardy Boyz vs Edge & Christian vs Dudley Boyz/TLCII- Wrestlemania X-seven
3. Bret Hart vs Steve Austin/ Submission match- Wrestlemania 13
4. Eddie Guerrero vs Kurt Angle- Wrestlemania XX
5. Ricky Steamboat vs Randy Savage- Wrestlemania III
6. Hulk Hogan vs Ultimate Warrior- Wrestlemania VI
7. The Rock vs Steve Austin- Wrestlemania X-seven
8. Ultimate Warrior vs Randy Savage- Wrestlemania VII
9. Steve Austin vs Shawn Michaels- Wrestlemania XIV
10. Kurt Angle vs Rey Mysterio vs Randy Orton- Wrestlemania 22

although i do admit that in my opinion, the warrior/hogan and savage/warrior the crowd played a lot in the favor of those matches, specially with the WM VII in the end... also, i think steamboat savage is good, but too overrated..but i do enjoy the match!! Also the rey/angle/orton was over too soon, otherwise that wouldve been a great match. for teh record, WM X-seven was (and is) the greatest WM of all time!!!

Honorable Mentions that didn't quite make the list :

Bret Hart/Roddy Piper - WM 8
Dudleys/Hardys/Edge & Christian - Triangle Ladder Match & TLC Match - WM 16 & 17
Randy Savage vs Ric Flair - WM 8
Kurt Angle vs Chris Benoit - WM 17

10)Triple H vs Chris Benoit vs Shawn Michaels - WM 20

I'm not a huge fan of triple threats because they normally just involve two guys going at it, whilst one lays out on the outside, and tend to be very spotty at times. However this was probably the best triple threat of all time, with some innovative moves throughout. It gets an extra half rating in my opinion simply because Chris Benoit finally made it to the top of the wrestling business. ****

9)Kurt Angle vs Brock Lesnar - WM 19

Though their encounters at Summerslam and particularly the close to perfect Iron Man Match they wrestled on Smackdown later in the year were better, this match was important for two reasons. One it was their first real meeting and two Kurt was wrestling with an injured neck at the time and that takes a lot of testicular fortitude to quote one hardcore legend. The match itself was rountine for these two guys, and the botched star press at the end did take away from it, but regardless, any guy who can wrestle a great match with a broken neck deserves praise. Great psychology *****

8)Shawn Michaels vs Chris Jericho - WM 19

Though the ending where Michaels defeated Jericho was probably not the right decision, it was HBK's return to Wrestlemania and in the dream match of sorts the two high fliers stole the show that night in my opinion, in a 20 minute match full of great psychology, chain wrestling and near falls. ****1/4

7) Randy Savage vs Ricky Steamboat - WM 3

In 1983, both these men were way ahead of their time. Till 1989 and the encounters between Flair and Steamboat at Clash of the Champions and Wrestlewar, this was the greatest match of the 80s. The number of near falls these two men was close to 20 I think. Great action and wrestling from two great innovators and storytellers. ****1/4

6) Bret Hart vs Owen Hart - WM 10

The Greatest opener for any pay per view, ever! These two wrestled a great match and the counter wrestling not only added to the psychology but also made the match very interesting. The end where Owen got the surprising was a great moment. ****1/4

5) Kurt Angle vs Shawn Michaels - WM 21
This was the dream match we'd all been waiting for since the return of Michaels. Great fued, great video package, but more importantly...great match! In the modern era, this is the best match the WWE have put on. The psychology, crowd reaction, wrestling and the induvidual spots all worked together so well. The ending with Michaels tapping to the ankle lock was the right way to go. Simply Brilliant! ****1/2

4) Shawn Michaels vs Razor Ramon - Ladder Match - WM 10

I'm not a huge fan of the gimmick matches, but at the time this was great. It wasn't spot based like the run of the mill ladder matches today, but instead combined innovative spots with great storytelling. The first and probably still one of the best ladder matches of all time. ****1/2

3) The Rock vs Steve Austin - WM 17

The two biggest drawing stars of the attitude era in the main event of the best Mania ever. A great brawl mixed with nice wrestling spots, great timing and psychology and an intense finish. JR's commentary made it even better, he was on top form on this night. By far the Rock's best match and one of Austin's best. Both men were in top form. ****3/4

2) Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels - WM 12

In 1996, these were the two best performers in the world period! They wrestled for 60+ minutes without any falls and at no time was it boring. The fact that they hated each other outside the ring, compliments how professional both men are inside of it to not deliever a *beep* Only these two could make 15 minutes of headlock reversals entertaining! Great wrestling and a great story! Doesn't quite reach ***** for me, but had it lasted for 40 odd minutes, it certainly would have. Either way great match and a great moment to see HBK reach the top of the mountain after 12 long years. ****3/4

1) Bret Hart vs Steve Austin - "I Quit" Match - WM 13

One of the very few true ***** matches in the history of wrestling; in my opinion next to Flair/Steamboat at Wrestlewar 89 (or Clash of the Champions 89, dont remember which but it was the one fall match that led to the Terry Funk attack on Flair afterwards im refering to)the best match of all time. A bloody brawl that was SOAKED in great storytelling and psychology. The double turn at the end where Austin didn't tap out to the sharpshooter and instead passed out only for Bret to kick him when he was down was simply great. It led to Austin revolution as well as Bret's great heel work in 97 during the Anti- American angle. It was simply brilliant and should have main evented for the title instead of Sid/Taker. *****

lol Angle vs Michaels over Austin vs Rock at X7? What are you, retarded?

reply

[deleted]

lol, your still retarded. Angle vs Michaels didn't draw a dime. Austin vs Rock made Vince a billionaire, you stupid piece a *beep*

End of discussion. The best match is determined by how much it draw. The people were all over Austin vs Rock 2, not over Angle vs Michaels. Jesus, you cant be that stupid.

Tell me why people keep talking about Austin vs Rock at WMX7 and not about Angle vs Michaels as WM20? Tell me, please.

My first WM was X7, which was great, last one I saw was 21, which was not so great. My Two Fave Wrestlemanias are a tie between X7 and X9. 20 and 2000 were also pretty good.

10.HHH v.s Rock v.s Foley v.s Show-X6
Good match. Good they finally let a heel walk away for a change. Would have been better if it wasn't elimination(The first two were eliminated way too quickly)

9.Kurt v.s Benoit v.s Jericho-X6
Interesting Stipulation. Great to watch while knowing were these guys have ended up.

8.Booker v.s HHH-X9
Booker should have won this, doesn't ruin the fact that it was good.

7.Kurt v.s Eddie-XX
Two greats = A Great Match

6.HHH v.s Taker-X7
Great buildup, both superstars were in their best form for this slobberknocker.

5.Shane v.s Vince-X7
First Wrestling match that caught my interest due to A) The Trashcan and table spots, B) The Family Fued, and C) Mick Foley.

4.Hogan v.s Vince-X9
Good match between the old farts with good buildup due to some real tension.

3.Kane v.s Raven v.s Big Show-X7
For sheer fun factor, this is the one to see. While TLC 3 was good, this was great.

2.Rock v.s Austin-X9
These Two are masters of main events. I picked X9 due to the fact it was such a great way to end their illustrious careers(though Rocky would do a couple more and Austin shows up quite frequently)

1.Jericho v.s Michaels-X9
A humongous dissappointment in MIchaels not passing the torch to Jericho does not ruin the fact it was one of the finest matches for either.

reply

I can switch Austin/Rock and Angle/HBK when I'm in the mood, but it doesn't stop the WM X-7 main event from being an easy ****1/2+ match.
