She shouldnt have a shadow!?

Loved this movie when it first came out (I was in high school) and decided to revisit it tonight and I still enjoyed it in all its crapiness

However, this time I noticed...
The Tooth Fairy should not have a shadow.
Seeing a shadow of something means that light is hitting that something and the shadow is the absence of that light. Throughout the movie we see her shadow creeping towards them when, in fact, she would be in pain because that meant that light was hitting her.

Am I right or am I right?

reply

Yes. You are right. Lol what a dumb goof. But we didn't think of it on first viewing so I guess that's all the filmmakers wanted anyways...

Way right. They just want the viewer to know she's there, but that is definitely some inconsistent logic by the director.

reply

Technically she shouldn't be seen at all, ever. If we see her, or a character sees her, that means light is hitting her. I know some logic liberties must be taken in a film like this, but that annoyed the hell out of me. Maybe the filmmakers can get away with it by saying she can only tolerate "low" light, or "reflected" light.

Today could be Jimmy Shaker day.

And yet a glow stick can keep her at bay?

reply

Actually yes, I am clinically retarded. You have amazing powers of deduction.

I was simply pointing out inconsistencies in the amount of light she could withstand. It's certainly not consistent throughout the film.

Indeed. The moonlight and lightning flashes are a lot brighter than some of the lights they use to repel her. It's really inconsistent.

Actually I'm not sure why she even minds the light - it says her burns made her sensitive but she goes around covered up. People who see her unmasked face are supposed to die but throughout she kills people who see her with the mask on.

Anyway about the shadow I assumed that only intense light would 'hurt' her - or maybe light that she faces.

No. She kills anyone that looks upon her at all. It doesn't matter if she's masked or not she doesn't want them to peek. It was the townspeople that she told don't peek and they ripped off her mask, but with the children ext. it's obvious she doesn't want them looking upon her at all. Masked or otherwise. Kyle unmasking her just pissed her off more at him.

You're right. But this movie isn't big on logic.

She could be around light; she just couldn’t be in it. There were many scenes where they had to stay under these little rays of light and she would be right outside of it, she could be next to those rays of light, but not under them. For example, the scene in the hospital where the three leads along with the doctor and nurse are trying to escape and they have this little strip of light that they have to walk through to get out, and as soon as one of the nurses walks an inch out of that light- she’s attacked. So that would explain how she had a shadow, because she could be in a room that had some light in it, just not be under direct light.

First of all-yes she can tolerate low light as you should have figured out when noticing this in the first place. As we seen, from watching this movie-yes she can tolerate low light. It's not all light-its bright blinding light and things close to it. There's even times when she tolerates the light or lets herself burn a little in the this movie just to get to Kyle. She's that desperate to get at him.

The point about the shadow is a good one overall[but anyone who watched this should already know she can tolerate some/low light], except was that her shadow or was it actually her and it looked like a shadow? Like when she's hovering around in young Kyle's room. At the police station-yes that's her shadow but as we already established low light can hit her without much of a problem. It was pretty dark in there.

Also, notice that she makes those sounds of pain/irritation almost every time she shows up, so clearly the light is irritating her, but she bares through it. Then that are times like in the police station[when Matt was looking around] that it's so dark and there's barely any light hitting her that it doesn't seem to bother her.

Also to the idiot that said the glow stick could keep her at bay-what movie were you watching. That's when she came shooting through the window cause the glow stick couldn't keep her at bay.

The shadows were supposed to be her, I think.
