Most depressing movie ever

reply

I agree, The Pianist is the most depressing movie ever.

reply

ehm notyou2188... you mean you disagree, right?

reply

Obviously you guys have never seen Salo

reply

OMG, salo is the *beep*

reply

You actually are all wrong. The most depressing movie of all time is "About Shmidt."

yup.

reply

Requiem for a Dream
is THE most depressing dream EVER.

reply

My vote is for Requiem for a Dream. That movie is whackadoodle! Oldboy is a close second.

reply

Seriously? Nobody's mentioned the Star Wars prequels yet?

-"My days of taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."

reply

HAHAHAHAHA! nice....

reply

I Agree. lol, very depressing.

I can't believe someone said "About Schmidt" was depressing..... I love that movie... I laugh out loud at that movie so much... the person who found it depressing obviously didn't get the dark comedy aspect of it.

You are soooo right!

reply

I like some dark/sad movies but I had to turn off Requiem for a Dream, then mistakenly turned the end on with Jennifer Connolly (WTH was that!) Girl, Interrupted, 80s movie with James Woods (Bounce maybe?) Requiem is in a nightmare category all its own.

reply

Oh wow, late response.

Nah, I was being sarcastic. It's hard to convey sarcasm without the right inflexions and facial expressions.

reply

Try Grave of the Fireflies on for size.

"What is your mother's maiden name?" What's her first name? I just knew her as Ma!

reply

You think this is the most depressing movie ever?
Wow, you really need to watch more films.

Say it aint so.. I will not go.. Turn the lights off.. Carry me home..

reply

I was not even close to shedding a tear during that film. I don't think I can decide for a live-action film, but the saddest animated film I have seen is End of Evangelion.

reply

this isn't that depressing, if it were it would've been nominated for an oscar. the only person we'd be feeling sad for in this movie is igby. but though he get's a lot of crap thrown at him, he brings most of it onto himself. so we can't feel that sad for him.

reply

Requiem is disturbingly depressing..

reply

this one? Most depressing movie ever? You need to watch "requiem for a dream"

reply

i think one of the most depressing movies is The Virgin Suicides.
you feel a lingering sadness after watching it.....definitely haunts the viewer

reply

21 grams is very depressing also.

reply

Odd.. I found Igby Goes Down to be uplifting. In a very strange way of course. Is that weird?

reply

Agreed, Opalura.

"I'd never ask you to trust me. It's the cry of a guilty soul."

reply

I don't think that was very depressing...neither was Igby Goes Down.

For me, Lonesome Jim was most likely the most depressing film I've seen. Usually, I like those movies, but that was simply too much!

Another vote for Requiem for a Dream.

reply

Wasn't even close.
I agree with Requiem for a Dream .. and then around a hundred others before this.
I thought Into the Wild was fairly depressing as well :'(
