The Da Vinci Code

Did anyone else spot the similarities between Revelation and The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, which personally I loathed and hate to admit reading? Was expecting a mass of posts here but to my surprise found none? The similarities are striking but I am unsure as to which came first, this film or the aforementioned book. I imagine the film but can anyone set the record straight as one has ripped off the other.

I think Revelation was better than The Da Vinci Code if you think that it had a way smaller budget. The story is well known, templars and mysterious stuff about Jesus, so it is normal to have similarities. I personally think that the DVC was not shot good because the book was written really perfect and the movie missed many details. But again it is the problem with the great books that you never get a good movie out of them just like Umberto Eco's The Name of The Rose. I hope they don't screw the Foucault's Pendulum the same way they did with these great books.

Firstly, in response to an earlier poster, Jesus having a child with MAry Magdalene is NOT KNOWELGE, it's a theory. Yes, it's possible and yes, it is interesting but I really hate how conspiracy theorists are quick to jump on the bandwagon and start claiming it's fact. nothing in history from that far back can be proven as fact.

Secondly, to the poster whose video taped the whole of REVELATION even though he'd missed 20 minutes...a) where can I get one of those video recorders?
b) just because a film and a book are similar doesn't mean the content of both is true! Harry Potter was VERY reminiscent of The worst Witch. That doesn't mean that there really is a school for young wizards and witched somewhere in Britain. Get a grip, people! This stuff is supposed to be fun and intriguing!

I've seen Revelation, but I didn't see the Da Vinci Code (only read the book). Revelation actually seemed a better story - far less smug, AND had Liam Cunningham. Woo!

'Right, the shop is closed, everybody get out! Back on the streets, you time-wasting bastards!'

Yeah there are similarities, but the differences are far more important. Revelation is an utter piece crap one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The Da Vinci Code as a book and a film whilst heavily flawed are at least rather entertaining bits of fluff. Still Angel and Demons was a much better read...

Revelation I think is better than The Da Vinci Code film, the book came out in 2003. So Revelation came first, so maybe this film inspired Dan Brown.
