huge hole in the story

I love this movie, don't get me wrong....but there is a major weakness in how this story holds together. I feel quite stupid for not noticing this until now, but for some reason the movie made me laugh so much that I didn't even think to question it.

there is NO way that someone else's transcript would be sent to Stanford in the place of his. Actually I should correct myself: it could be sent, but the results would not be disasterous. Why? because HIS name is NOT on the transcript. If he applied to Stanford, they have his application letter and when they received the transcript from the high school in the mail they would have automatically noticed that it was for the wrong student. They would have blamed the high school for this error and not the Student. High school guidance counselors goof up all the time. I had something goof up with my college application and I wasn't penalized for it. They graciously asked for the high school to send it again.

Wasn't it because he cut it so close time wise?

Agreed.

That's the only flaw in this movie. It wouldn't have mattered if his name wasn't on the transcript. It would've been considered a simple error and everything would've been easily resolved. But that's a flaw I'm willing to overlook, because aside from that, the rest of the movie is just great.
