What do Gilbert Gottfried fans think about the 2011 AFLAC controversy?

That was the incident that made Gilbert forever hated by so many. Granted, he got a lot of hate for the 9/11 jokes, too. But that was nothing compared to the amount of hate he got for the Japanese tsunami jokes. Especially since Japan is much smaller than America.

Not to mention because of the tsunami jokes, people think Gilbert hates the Japanese.

Gilbert Gottfried is still a great comedian and he made a mistake by cracking jokes about the tsunami that hit Japan. I have noticed that when he says a joke he will apologize afterwards to make sure it did not affend anyone. I hope to work with him with my movie THE POSSESSION OF INNOCENCE eventually. I am waiting for the movie to get fully funded.

I was watching a video he did about the Tsunami controversy, and he said that that was the first time he ever apologized after a joke. I don't think he hates the Japanese, though. If I am not mistaken, isn't he friends with George Takei, who is Japanese-American?

And another thing: Robert, are you a fan of Japanese culture? I'm a bit of a fan of Japanese culture. I love playing video games, and a lot of my favorite video game companies are Japanese (Nintendo, Capcom, Konami, Sega, etc. you name it). I even went to Tokyo and Osaka Japan in April 2008. It was one of the best experiences of my life.

No I do not believe that Gilbert Gottfried hates the Japanese at all. He was kidding about a bad situation even though he should not have done that though. Yes I think he is friends with George Takei.

I use to play a lot of the video games at one time, but now that I am older I do not play with them as much though. I am glad that it was a very good experience for you going over to Japan 6 years ago.

I feel it was unfair to him.

reply

Yes it was definitely unfair to Gilbert Gottfried because he is married now and has a son and daughter that he has to put food on the table for along with pay the bills, clothes on their backs, or anything else.

i respected him more after those jokes
