How do you steer a submarine in port?

It's not as if you can look out the window and I can't imagine someone using a periscope to tell the steersmen where to go. Presumably there are cameras and someone is watching a screen then giving instructions.
Just occurred to me watching k-19 casting off and leaving port that it's not something I've seen on film though they always seem to show it with a surface ship - or a star ship.
