who's your favourite character

Mine is the comical cookie loving teacher followed closely by the crazy guy who signed up for one. (Is it explained in the novel why he does? )

Mitsuko. I have a soft spot in my heart for characters that are ruthless b!tches as well as being manipulative and cunning. In addition, I like how she also had low self-esteem, referring to herself as a "loser", meaning her attitude was a façade to hide her insecurities.

Mitsuko. In my opinion, she is the best character in the whole movie.I loved her every time she appeared on screen. She mysteries, sexy, manipulative, and was a hurt girl inside. I would of loved it if they told more of her story in school. Why was she as loner? or why didn't anyone like her? I think someone where in the movie it says she's a whore or a slut, that she sleeps with everyone. But I want to know why.

The writers shouldn't have killed her off till the very end. They could of had her manipulate the crazy wack job into falling for her, then kill him off. Then make her one of the last four. Perhaps kill her off trying to kill them remaining for. Her crying about how everyone disliked her for being a whore or whatever, or even talking about her mom, she being a alcoholic.

So many complex and likeable characters played by talented young actors, so I'll name my favorites:

I loved the duo of Shuya and Noriko, they were strong and realistically scared characters who worked well together and the potential romance was definitely simmering underneath. The ending of them on the run together was a great cliffhanger. The sequel was so disappointing, mostly because the writer completely ignored the bond between these two.

Kawada, the survivor who befriended them and fought courageously throughout the game, was arguably the best character as he was the biggest surprise. The actor was so good at keeping his true emotions hidden at the start that you are fooled into thinking that he will be an antagonist. Amazing character backstory and journey.

I'm always shocked at how underrated Sugimura is by fans. The Romeo and Juliet story between him and Kotohiki is deeply tragic and touching. The fact that he risks his life to seek her out and ultimately admits his love for her when it is too late is so sad to watch. His death scene was the most upsetting, in my opinion.

Mimura was another great character with honorable intentions who I was rooting for. He works so hard to try to save as many people as possible, which was incredible.

Last but not least is the main antagonist player Kiriyama, who was played by an excellent actor. He appeared gleeful when he killed people and incited fear in all who crossed his path; he stole every scene he was in.

Maybe Kiriyama. Great character.

Loved Mitsuko too. The first time I saw this movie was an old Netflix copy (back when they actually sent discs by mail) with bad sub-titles which made Mitsuko an even more legendary character. After getting punched full of bullet holes and trying multiple times to get back up, when she finally goes down for good the death counter which normally comes on screen after a death comes up with one small twist. It read --

Mitsuko Souma. Dead?

I thought it was such a perfect ode to such a powerful character with incredible will, almost as if even the creators of the film could not bear to see her go.

Too bad it was just a typo.
