When I first watched I gave 4/10, now...

Okay this was the first Wes movie I saw and I absolutely hated it, didn't understand why people found it funny and couldn't keep up with the story to care about the characters. Then a couple years later I watched Fantastic Mr Fox with my younger brother, and loved it. After finding out it had been the same creator I was shocked, and needed more. I would say there is a specific order you should watch his movies in order to appreciate them and understand the style.

1st-Moonrise Kingdom or Fantastic Mr Fox
2nd-Rushmore
3rd- you'll probably be in love by now so watch what you want.

I can't find fault with any of his films now, they are really quite superb and unlike anything you will see. Remember it's DEADPAN humour, I think I was so used to in your face "this is a joke' humour that I wasn't ready at first. Don't give up!

I "forced" my wife to watch all the Wes Anderson movies, starting out with Fantastic Mr Fox (on DVD). Then we started from the beginning and watched Bottle Rocket and ended with Moonrise Kingdom (re-watched Fantastic Mr Fox on Blu ray after I sold my DVD copy and bought it on Blu ray).
Sometimes we don't agree on what sort of movies we like (I am trying to make her watch Billy Wilder movies starting with "Some like it hot", but she doesn't like "old movies"), but we both like Wes Anderson's movies.

I agree with you completely in this: "I can't find fault with any of his films now, they are really quite superb and unlike anything you will see."

Your wife needs to watch older movies. Some Like it Hot is so good. I could never marry a woman who didn't like all kinds of movies. That would have been a deal breaker.

Watch this when it came out and only thought it was ok. Watched it for the second time last night and was blown away. What was 21 year old me thinking?

Still my least fav Wes, it's grown on me nonetheless. B+
Not many of the characters are likeable enough to embrace which is an outlier for his catalogue.

Anyone who "doesn't like old movies" is a dumbass.
