This is not a sequel!

Just wanted to make this absolutely clear as there are sequel-related questions floating about out there.

This is not a sequel in the sense that it directly relates to The Talented Mr. Ripley (or any of the other adaptations). However, this is an adaptation of the sequel to the book. In other words, there is a series of books where one book follows the other in sequence, in this regard the *book* Ripley's Game is one of the sequels to the *book* The Talented Mr. Ripley, but the films themselves aren't related in this manner. The films are versions of *single* books in the series. Therefore there is no rhyme or reason why the third book was filmed before the second, etc. other than someone wanted to adapt the third book and had it completed before someone else wanted to adapt the second book and had that completed, etc. These films were meant to be seen seperately.

I hope this answers any questions related to this matter.

Now, of course, if someone were to take it on themselves to adapt the series of books into a series of films . . . .

I guess I should have made it clearer in that it wasn't *meant* to be a direct sequel (that's why a lot of things don't mesh).

It does align quite well though. TTMR set in the late 50s with Ripley supposed to be about 20?. RG set present day early 2000s (ok Malcovich was 50ish but could play older 60ish)
