In terms of strong interpersonal drama, 25th Hour is superb, as is American History X. In the subcategory of teen angst, Tart was superb.

"The life before her eyes". starring Evan Rachel Wood and Uma Thurman. while a different plot the movie does revolve around the after effects of a school shooting. it was amazing. check it out. BTW I also loved "Home Room".
Also check out "American Gun" (2005) starring Marcia Gay Harden. it handles the issue of pro and anti guns very well. it tells interweaving stories of how guns affect people's lives. very powerful.
I gotta disagree with "Tart". it had a decent cast but it was just awful.

I'm not exactly sure what you're after, but i'd say give 'State's evidence' a go.

Yes, I liked State's Evidence actually a LOT better than this movie.
To me, it fell flat. Could've been good, but some folks just go ga-ga over any "independent" cinema. State's Evidence was MUCH more emotionally effective, IMO.
