So if you ignore the ending

If you had it just about a man suffering from religious delusions and indoctrinating his kids into the same madness

How would you explain the list of names that he receives?

The angel you can say is just an hallucination

But what about the list of names for the demons to kill ?

reply

I don't remember how he received the list.

If it had not been revealed that there were real demons at the end, the list could have been names he had heard somewhere, or even looked up in the phone book when he was having a psychotic episode.

reply

It's vague but I think the gist is god or one of His angels gave him the names

reply

He says God gives him the list of names. It doesn't mean he physically is given a piece of paper with names. The way I've always seen this is he gets the names from his God. He believes he hears God giving him these names and he writes them down.

Kinda like how some mentally ill people think newscasters on tv are sending them secret messages.
