Rick Martel was robbed!!

If you watch the end of Martel's "run" carefully you'll see he goes to the top rope and gives bulldog a double axe handle and then body slams him. He then goes THROUGH the ropes and up to the top rope again at which point the bulldog throws him off. He never went over the top rope and therefore that should not have been counted as an elimination! The Model was robbed!!!!!

Yeah I kinda see what you mean. But do you mean he goes THROUGH the ropes to the outside, then up to the top, then gets eliminated? I haven't watched it in awhile, I forgot. Yeah if that's the case, he shouldn't have been eliminated.

He goes outside, then climbs up, Bulldog shakes the ropes and Martel loses his balance and falls, then Davey Boy knocks him down to the floor. Did I say that correctly? I never noticed that before, good observation!

Martel got robbed in most of his 7 Royal Rumbles (1989-1995). The first 5 he was one of the final 4 or 5 guys left every time (or close). I feel he should have at least won one of those matches. In 1993 Bob Backlund lifted Martel onto the top rope in the corner, then punched him off to the floor to eliminate him, kinda like 1991, & he was in the final 4-5 in each one.

Let's see... 1989 he was in the final 4

1990 he wasn't really close. But I think he was the last one eliminated before the Hogan/Warrior 1-on-1 showdown. He was still the 6th or 7th to last man thrown out.

1991 he was in the final 5.

1992 about the same thing, got eliminated the same time as Roddy Piper before the final 4.

1993 made the final 4 again. Bob Backlund had been in the match over 1 hour but still lifted a much fresher Martel up to the corner turnbuckle & got rid of him!

He did well in 1994, but wasn't really close to the final 4. And 1995 was his last one, he got thrown out about midway in the match.

Pretty good Royal Rumble record though.

I remember his Royal Rumble run in 1994. He was in for a good while, but he didn't shine all that much either. He drew a pretty late number and he only eliminated Greg "The Hammer" Valentine before getting tossed out by Tatanka.

Way too many guys in the ring in 1994, near the middle & end, and I didn't really like the ending. CO-WINNERS???? What the hell were they thinking??? At least in 2005 they restarted the match. And how the hell could they give Luger a win, and never guys like Ted Dibiase, or Savage, who deserved it a helluva lot more.

Yeah Valentine did ok in 1994 too, unfortunately it was his last, and Martel's was in '95 and he didn't do very good, but that one he set the record for most Rumble appearances with 7, and all 7 in a row. Guys have flew past that record in recent years, like um....Kane. If he doesn't win in '09 that'll be an 0-11 as the Kane character (all consecutively) and an 0-13 overall (Fake Diesel, Isaac Yankem). LOL he's doing the reverse of what the Undertaker is doing at Wrestlemania.

Still a helluva run, 52+ minutes. Most wrestlers can't even run out a 10-15 minute regular match.

LOL the blindfold match at WM 7 (which one was it anyway?) 7 or 8. HILARIOUS!! I bought that Wrestlemania Anthology for $300 when it came out, it's worth it, although they change some entrance themes and blur out some WWF logos, and quite a few of my discs freeze up, especially the ones with tons of material on them, like WM 4...

Randy Savage was really the one robbed I'd say. Rumble woulda been so much better with him. Damn Ultimate Warrior!!!!

When the Bulldog shakes the ropes, Martel falls and nuts himself. At that point, he leans forward back into the ring. Then he starts moving backwards, and which point the Bulldog clotheslines him and he goes over the ropes and is eliminated.

Two reasons why this is a good elimination.
1) He leans back into the ring, thus making him eligible to be eliminated.
2) The corners and the ring posts count as part of the ring and the ropes. Since he was on the top rope, that counts as being in the ring, and going over the corner counts just the same as going over the top rope.
