No way was Queen the best performance...

From what I've seen on the Live Aid DVDs, Queen are not the best performers at Live Aid. Even if you took only the Wembley concert, they were not the best. I think it all comes down to two things:
- First is Freddie Mercury. His stage moves/outfit are ridiculous and he looks comical.
- Second is their choice of songs. Radio Ga Ga is caca. Hammer to Fall? Please.
How in the world can anybody claim that Queen were better than Bowie or Elton John that day?
And if you include the Philadelphia shows, I think Clapton and (I hate to admit it) Madonna both clobber Queen. Anybody else agree?

My God!!!
Queen were the best performers by far... and Freddie stole the show.
I absolutely love his stunning voice and also the white t-shirt and Wrangler jeans he wore that memorable day.
He is still alive and will always be, because legends never die.

Queen was the best performance. Many surveys have already attested to that. Besides, that was a long time ago - 26 years to be exact. No need to debate on the past.

Actually, what made Freddie Mercury an awesome frontman and the best performer of the day was precisely the fact that he wasn't afraid to look ridiculous. He went further than anyone else and never put a foot wrong on stage, where others would have feared tripping up or falling over. And even with all the moves, he was still able to sing better than anyone else. That was what made him extraordinary. It was one of the best performances of all time by anybody.

As for his outfit (I presume you mean the vest), the guy had worn far more ridiculous things than that on stage in the '70s!!!! I personally found the outfits worn by some of the other performers far more ridiculous: why the hell were Midge Ure and Tony Hadley wearing long coats and David Bowie wearing a full suit on a hot day in July like that????
