The movie seems to be the most influential action movie of the past 20 years. Before Bourne, it seemed like most action movies tried to be over-the-top and overblown with special effects and improbable plots to the point of being cartoons. Since Bourne, it seems as though every action movie has been focused on being dark and gritty and overly serious and more down-to-earth in its plots and realistic in action sequences.
