Pootie tang and Amelie

Has anyone noticed the remarkable parallels between Pootie Tang and Amelie?? Most obviously their introductions are nearly identical. A voice over describing the main character's child hood and how they were different from other children. Also the death of a parent in a very strange way. Next, Both of the main characters are obsessed with doing good but do not worry about themselves. Also both main characters are afriad to allow themselves to fall in love. Coincidence, Plagerism, or do great minds just think alike?? Your comments
