He was as good as newman. He deserved oscar nom. He convoyed emotion through facial expression less word hardest acting. I wish hanks did more dark roles my favorite actor. His acting subtle.

Actually, even though I absolutely LOVE Tom Hanks, he is still kind of a one-way actor. Don't get me wrong, he's an excellent actor. But... Just as DiCaprio, I don't really see him differently no matter what movie I watch :/

I agree, I think he is so versatile, regardless of what many people say. I think this role was amazing for Tom and agree that he should have been at least nominated. This movie was seriously snubbed at the oscars concerning acting.

Law, Newman, Hanks and even Craig could have been nominated.

Absolutely. HanKS is da bomb. Does dark roles awesome. He actually balancedo dark with loving father and husband and god son in this one....simultaneously

He deserved nominations. I think they passed him over because he already had two Oscar (as well as multiple nominations). He didn't get nominated for "The Green Mile" too, if I remember correctly.
