Why not use the actual names of Michigan landmarks?

The change Grand Rapids to _______ Falls, I forget what exactly, change Grand Haven to Bay Haven, and talk about getting hotdogs at Dog Years instead of the iconic Yesterdog. Movies reference cities and locations all the time, why not here?
