Sure, the plot was really cliched and stupid, but some parts in the movie had me in tears from laughing so much. The pet shop scene took the cake: Starchild, the oblivious clerk, piranhas, the bubble wrap and helium...also, the campy techno music used during these scenes doubled the goofiness by 100%. It was my favorite part in the movie. I'd like to add that the kid in this movie was the perfect casting choice...he really did a great job!
shareAbsolutely agree!!! It's just an all around "feel good movie". Many laughs in this movie despite how many times I watch it. If I have a bad day, I just come home and put this movie in and it puts me right into a great mood... like I said "feel good movie".

I just saw this again on TV. I thought my husband was about to fall on the floor laughing at the "Zebra" scene. The "caca" scene was hysterical--the comedic timing is perfect. David Arquette held his own considering he had to be in scenes with both a kid and a dog. I don't understand the low ratings either. We got some much needed laughter out of it and I give it a 9!
