The Truth About Mark 'Psycho Mom' Finley!

The nasty looking hatchet faced old queen who plays Drag Queen # 3 lives in Seattle and is a thief and liar. he even claimed to have AIDS so he could get $$ and free housing. Luckily he was found out and EVICTED!!!!

The Seattle Gay Community Has Its Own Jayson Blair!

He has no accountability; he is irresponsible, shameless, reckless,
dishonest, and a substance abuser… Yes, Seattle too has its own Jayson
Blair- and he writes (if you can call it writing) for The Seattle Gay
News.

Since 1996 SGN has been blindly printing the delusions, half truths and
outright lies spewed from the mind of drag personality Mark Finley.
After
reading the article written by Eli Sanders- “Thought Police” (The
Stranger
Vol. 12 No 40) it is clear that the “management” of SGN is just as much
to
blame for the problem as the problem itself (Finley). Apparently the
editor
of SGN doesn’t bother to check facts or make sure his publication is
giving
its readers the most accurate and truthful information. It would seem
that
he has also given Finley carte blanche to write anything he wants
without
worrying about repercussions. “Print It Then Hide It” seems to be
George
Bakon’s rule of thumb…

The falsehoods Finley has circulated over the years are too numerous to
name
in this article but here is a sample…

Quote from the Gay City University Catalogue:

“Drag 101. Mark has an M.F.A. in
Acting and a B.F.A. in Costume Design.”

In the 1998 Gay City University brochure Mark Finley submitted the
above
information to the Gay City University catalogue editor. In doing so
Finley
lied to the ENTIRE gay community by claiming to have academic
credentials
that do not exist- a MFA in acting and a BFA in costume design.
Members of
this community investigated this information and confirmed that it was
indeed not true.

In the May 2, 2002 SGN Finley had the editor print an e-mail he
received
from a Steven Allessandro. Allessandro’s letter, which capsulated all
the
negative reviews of a play Mr. Finley was performing in, was also
forwarded
to numerous people besides Finley- including the editor of SGN. With
Mr.
Bakon’s blessing Finley accused Mr. Allessandro of being a “Stalker” (a
very
serious allegation in of itself) and proceeded to print his personal
e-mail
address in the hopes of having readers respond to Mr. Allessandro to
protest. Finley dishonestly added things to Allessandro’s letter that
were
not in Allessandro’s original e-mail. Basically Finley FALSIFIED a
letter
he claimed he had received from a person he publicly declared was an
“alleged “stalker. Mr. Allessandro responded to Finley and the editor
of
SGN with a follow-up letter in which he stated he would be pursuing
legal
action. The next day Finley responded to Mr. Allessandro’s letter
PRIVATELY
stating “I have forwarded your message to the editor and an apology
will
follow”. The apology never came and SGN has conveniently covered
Finley’s
tracks by removing the May 2, 2002 article from their archived website.
By
any standard this behavior by Finley and the SGN editor is
reprehensible and
grossly irresponsible.

Other instances of lies Finley feeds our community via SGN:

From Finley’s Jan 10, 2003 SGN column:

…"Here, join us for drinks. You seem like you would be fun. And every
party
needs a drag queen - let alone a mother to watch out for mischievous
kids
like us" (Finley claims this is what he actually said). “The person who
had
tapped my shoulder and asked me out for drinks was none other than one
of
the most handsome eligible Hollywood bad-boy bachelors, George Clooney!
That's right kids! Mom went out drinking with Clooney“.

A follow-up conversation with Mr. Clooney’s publicist adamantly insists
Clooney claimed this “never happened!” Apparently Finley was a hired
server
for an Absolut Vodka promotion when this occurred. Ironically, a
website
that showcases the event in pictures confirms that Mr. Clooney was not
even
present. Out of 137 pictures taken, George Clooney is not even in one!
http://filmmagic.com/Headlines.asp (click on “Chicago screening for
GLAAD”).

In another social fiasco that pits Finley against yet another group of
people in the community-The Stranger (Volume 10 No. 2) Adrian Ryan
describes
an event where Finley treats fellow Gay Seattleites like crap:

"Do you know who I am?"
“For ridiculous pretension, that venerable beauty of a quote towers
above
all others. Local performer Mark Finley is rumored to have hollered it
repeatedly while chewing out the help of Capitol Hill's mailing house
Post
Options. While Mr. Finley's side of the story (or "hatchet job,"
according
to Post Options) can be read on page 37 of the September 22 Seattle Gay
News, the employees at Post Options insist that his behavior was
bizarre,
unfounded, and "even ruder" than a run-in they once had with Courtney
Love.
And for the record, they have no clue "who he is."

Conveniently the editors of SGN have seen fit to cover Finley’s tracks
(and
theirs) yet again by removing Finley’s article from their archive
website.
It is the only article that week that has been removed
(http://www.sgn.org/2000/09/22/). No public apology was ever made.

And then there is the claim Finley has been making for years- “I Have
Full
Blown AIDS”-an allegation no doctor will confirm. Finley has been
using
this “alleged” condition to not only evoke sympathy from the community
but
also to get free governmental assistance over the years (housing,
disability, medical care, etc.). All the while Finley has been making
tax
free income from his bar shows and fundraising appearances (usually
paid in
cash). The IRS (if informed) would call this behavior tax evasion and
FRAUD. And worse than working the governmental system for his own
selfish
benefit, Finley has ceaselessly taken advantage of the goodwill and
naiveté
of this community.

Unfortunately through it all SGN has been the vehicle Finley has used
to
pursue this course of dishonest social behavior. From the flurry of
“letters to the editor” during the Chicken Soup Brigade scandal (where
money
was found missing), to a fake “retirement” party (Neighbors 1997), and
the
recent boycott of a community leadership award, SGN has allowed Finley
to
publicly act out his childish, mentally questionable and always
deceptive
behavior.

SGN’s policy of “Print It Then Hide It” Is very suspicious at the
least.
Why the editor of SGN would repeatedly cover the tracks of a lying
sociopath
and never publicly apologize or acknowledge the errors is beyond
comprehension. SGN’s “Print It Then Hide It” policy is clearly a
cowardly
way of saying “we don’t stand behind what we print”.

Where is their accountability?

How can the Seattle gay community allow this to continue?

Shame on you George Bakon! Double shame on you Mark Finley! And shame
on
this community for trusting and allowing such irresponsible people to
deliver our news…

Mark “Markie” Davis
