No discussion?!

I'm surprised that a 32-year-old show has so little attention. I guess I shouldn't be, considering the intellectual level of most IMDb users.

My father watched this religiously every night while I was growing up, so much that we used to imitate the theme song to tease him. We never called it The Robert MacNeil Report, but rather 'MacNeil Lehrer'. It's a weird thing to remember from the 80's, but it was a part of my childhood.

Just my $0.02.

Yeah, but truth be told it's not much of a news show. It's more of an outpatient video program.

Just for the record, there's no Robert in the title. It's Robin. I'm too lazy right now to submit a correction.

When I watch the NewsHour, I feel good about getting information and hearing analyses and civil discusssions. I don't feel like I've poisoned my brain like I do if I happen to see the news on Fox or MSNBC.

Yes, this is true. I used to watch this and PBS in general. That changed along the way somewhere. I am watching it right now in fact. I must get back to watching it and watch less of the crap on tv, which there is WAAAAAAY too much of.

14 years ago ... wow. I was just watching this show before the New Years Eve festivities, and am very disappoints. Today it is David Brooks and Jonathan Capehart, and they both just get on this show and blubber baloney about politics.

David Brooks, the Republican pretends to be offended by the Trump Republican party and every week comes up with some new mild slight at his fellow Republicans, while Jonathan Capehart the smug Gay Africa American guy who made is tells us how concerned he is for our democracy.

Brooks is shifting in his chair side to side and front and back like he is on the witness stand as a hostile witness about be caught in perjury. Either than or he has to go to the bathroom or already went in his pants. I watched this show as a kid, and followed it regularly through all the changes PBS has gone through ... as the money has shifted it Right and taken over the executive spots - and yet no one has the cuts to say anything because they have their dream jobs - increasing which a part of is to shine the American people on and say move along.

In the last year I wonder why I watch this show at all. Same with the McLaughlin Report, but at least they went off the air because they were totally extreme Right Wing garbage dump for Patrick Buchanan.

In the 90's we wondered why the News and Current Events programs were getting so bad and blamed it on money, and today it's just completely gone - replaces with stooges and boosted online by Right Wing trolls.
