Did u like it when joan talked to the audience in season 1???
im glad they discontinued it
shareI wasn't a fan. The asides never added anything to the moment, more often than not she stated the obvious or dropped some cliche that took away the enjoyment of events because it was so inane.
shareYea I remember they did the same thing with Martin show. They dropped it after the 1st season.
shareMartin did opening monologues which are completely different. Joan was more like Zack in Saved by the Bell where everything stops just so the character can give some commentary.
I wish some of the characters would have acknowledged Joan stopping to break the 4th wall just to highlight how crazy she was. I can see Maya now, "Joan? Joan, sweetie...who are you talking to?"

carrie also does it in the first season of sex in the city but it was discontinued afterwards......just another thing the 2 shows have in common

It was OK except for sometimes it went on too long & sort of disrupted the scene. Show flowed better without it IMO
shareTalking to the audience is always unnecessary and silly to me.
Forget the audience.
Sometimes it was funny, but I'm glad they gave it a rest after the first season.
