Ending

I'm not sure I understood the ending. The only thing I could come up with was that life went back to "normal." The parents reunited, their son was still sick, and the lover left. Did the affair end because the "healer" lost his power? Could he not love and heal at the same time? Or, did Julie stop loving him when he was no more use for her son? It definitely wasn't a Hollywood ending!

The ending is bizarre! That is not that how people in real life would react in a situation like this! I mean Julie going back to her husband and be happy again with him, beeing at the same time pregnant with the Baby from another man and a dying son at home! That make no sense!

Henry for example, her husband has very much temperament, a man like him has surly his problems with a wife which is pregnant with the child of another man!

Than Julie herself, beeing a few scenes before very much in love with the Healer and from one minute to another there is no more Love for the Healer and she fall in Love with her husband again???

And the real father of the Baby, who was so happy to become a father is gone from one moment to another, he leaves a woman he loves so much and say nothing why and she let him go??? Even when the relationship is over a pregnant woman has to care about a few things! Things about the unborn Baby!

My interpretion is that when Alexj tried to heal the child again he feel something, not only he felt no power in his hands, that's for me not that he lost all his power, that's more that he is not god, he has not the right and the power to decide between life and death! He is not the person who has the power or can say, you live and your time is over! Remember one of the scenes at the beginning of the movie, the Healer as a child, he woke up in the hospital, went to a room, where a dead woman was and he said to her "stand up"! But you cannot see if she did, I don't think so, so maybe that was the sign, here your power stops, you are not the Lord about Life and Death!

And maybe he felt, that he has a special gift, he can heal but he want to give that up for Julie! For the love to one person! But it's a gift not from this earth, given from the universe, from god, however! Like the words in the bible "it is given you for nothing and you shall give it"! God gave him that gift not for nothing, he has a responsibility, that's his mission! Maybe the writer of this story had that in his mind and Julie and Alexj unterstand that with the sign of the cold hands! Both maybe unterstand that Alexj have to go on, on his special way with his gift! Maybe that was the key scene!

The crows around the house? Maybe they stand for a dying child and a dying relationship, this marriage have surly no happy ending! I think that Julie will make contact again to Alexj for the Baby and she has to rearrange her life! The unborn child has a right to know his father! And I'm sure Alexj wants to know his child! That's pitty that the movie don't clear that up and ends in the middle of a story!

I felt the child was a gift from the healer to them she wanted to have her son cured and what she got was another child... how did so many of you miss this. the child may have been conceived by her and the healer but it was created for her and her husband. who would you choose a guy wom you have know and just met or a man truly soory for his actions not to mention she did the same thing.

I caught part of the movie earlier and then had to stop because of my kids so I DVR'd the later showing and just watched it. It was a good movie but the ending was confusing and left too many loose ends in my book. It's nice that she went back to her "husband" and I use that term loosely as they weren't actually married, but its like how did that come about? What happened to Alexei? Is the baby meant to carry on the healing since she felt pregnant after only 1 time? And I mean like immediately after they did the deed. I don't mind films that make you think, but you have to draw the line at just some random ending.

The reason she may have went back to her husband seems simple to me. She takes his kids from him because he had an affair. And they were at odds with treatment for the sick child yet she goes and tops him by having an affair and getting pregnant. How can you justify this when you took his kids from him for what he did. If you felt strongly about his actions then what about yourself. She has no right to take his kids back to Poland because they are his also. And Alexei has no claim over his kids. He has rights also. I would bet she did this for her kids also. The lover had nothing plus a dying mom to care/support for so how would they support the kids even if she did go with him.

They had a house and stability What did Alexie have. I was angry at her being all high and mighty yet look at what she does. How can she say i am moving our kids to another country because you cheated. Plus the husband wanted the child she was carrying. She will be much better off without the lover in the long run.
