How old were you?

How old were you when you first saw this film?

I first saw it in 2006. I was 25.

To see the only real monster, one must only look in the mirror.

I first saw it just tonight and I was 13. Or is 13 lol, but really close to being 14.
And before you judge me for being too young or anything, I'm pretty mature for my age, so I'm okay with some R-rated movies

I saw it maybe 2011-2013, placing me around 17 or 19 maybe.

2001, so 11.

I remember going to blockbuster to rent it the day it came out, but I got there too early and had to wait for them to unlock the doors. This will always be a personal classic of mine. Never thought it would become as huge as it did around that time. But I guess I was a part of the word-of-mouth that got people to see it.

Why did they rent out an R rated movie to an 11 year old?

I can't totally remember when I saw it. I was already a big jena fan and watched any movie she was in, so I assume I watched it mighty close to home release.

The DVD came out in 2002, and I recall hearing a lot of buzz about it before I got around to renting it, but I think that must have been just a few months, because it seemed like a long wait until the DC came out.

So the answer is 47 or 48. (Do I win?) It pretty much became my favorite movie of all time, edging Memento, even before the DC (which I think is better).

I was 14 or 15 when I first saw this in late 2002. It being my freshmen year of high school, this became a huge part of my high school life and I showed it (along with Memento) to all of my friends, whether they liked it or not. However, we were all on board when the director's cut was released in 2004. I still feel, as I did then, that the original is better, if just for being more mysterious and not so many insert shots. I could't tell you how many times I've watched the original cut...the director's cut I've only sat through twice.

When I first watched it, the idea of being nostalgic for 1988 seemed weird, since it wasn't that far away. Having watched it again this week, it is remarkable for such a low budget how they got that look and feel of late 80's suburbia just right. I was only an infant then, but the film exhibits this glossy look that is similar to films made at that time.

And to whoever said this movie relaxes you, I can kind of relate. I had the original ambient score on my iPod for years. When I watched it again last Sunday, the soundtrack alone moved me to another place completely. And what an amazing cast, as well!

I'm a stranger here myself

I first saw it around 2005 on German TV when I was 27. They butchered several lines in the synchronization, but it was mesmerizing to watch after all. I just watched it again a few days ago and I have to say that it's still one of my all-time faves.
