Y Tu MamaTambien vs Amores Perros?

Both very different films granted, but which film did you enjoy more. Both came out at the time of a Mexican cinema "boom" and I must admit I was touched a lot more by Y Tu Mama Tambien.

Both films are great.

WHAT'S IN THE BOX??????

I think Y Tu Mama Tambien was better at conveying the politics and sociology of Mexico although Amores Perros was grittier.

I really disagree that YTMT focuses on sex as some imply. Sex is symbolic of life and learning and is a counterpoint to the theme of death that is woven throughout the film. It is not at all superficial.

YTMT is miles ahead of Amores Perros. I thought that it had more depth and more relatable characters and story.

Y Tu Mama Tambien is one of my most detested films, so I guess I'll choose Amores Perros, even though I didn't think it was that good. Especially the first hour or so.

Really hard to decide but I was touched more by YTMT as well. Very good movies both of them.

Y Tu Mama Tambien. I disagree with the assertions that it's 'all about sex'. It delves deeply into class differences, the pain of adolescence, terminal illness, sexuality, the current state and sociopolitical / socioeconomical history of Mexico, friendship, etc etc etc... I also prefer the more subtle direction and writing, it may be less 'high impact' than that of Amores Perros but it's just as powerful. That final scene is devastating every single time. I agree, both films are great. 

YTMT has a more universal appealing for a reason, it has been regarded higher than AP by people who make cinema around the world but I guess in Mexico people prefer AP.

I prefer YTMT, it deals with metaphors betterd and the cinematography is to die for.

Amores perros... Y tu mamá también is only about a couple of horny teenagers that make out at the end of the movie

Both are pretty good, but Y Tu Mama Tambien had a much better ending, while Amores Perros had a better start.
