Worst acted war film?

Windtalkers has without a doubt some of the worst acting I've ever seen in a major studio release. So bad it's taken three years for me to finish the film (which I succeeded in today). The script is atrocious. The direction appalling. Nicolas Cage? Don't get me started on his laughable performance. It's uncomfortable to watch. I actually felt embarrassed.

A great story destroyed by poor talent.

NO

I TRULY MISS STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN!

reply

Probably not, but it's certainly up there near the top of the bad movie list.
Between the acting and the cliché writing, I'm not sure which destroys it more.

Then there's the whole focus of the film. The title would suggest that it's a story of the Navajo code talkers. Ha ha! Fooled you! It's all about the white guy trying to "redeem" himself from an earlier botched mission.

The scene where the big-wig is ready to give the white guy a medal for what the native guy did speaks volumes. The big-wig barely acknowledged the native's existence.

I have to agree.
For more than 10,000 years it has been the prerogative of old men to send young men out to fight — and die — for the old men's beliefs, the old men's concept of "honor", the old men's right to control other people, .....

The overworked dialogue and delivery is vintage John Woo, and is the embodiment of the Hong Kong action film style. That said, it's a terrible film, though its worst fault by far is the treatment of its titular characters as supporting cast in their own movie.

Three years?! Wow, I admit it took me about two weeks to finish it, I could only stomach about 45 min. at a time and several days would go by, I dreaded going back. But three years! After like a month I would have just pretended I never started it. It truly was a crummy movie. I don't say that often, I tend to be focus on the positive.

I take it you've never seen Spike Lee's Miracle At St. Anna?

reply

That was a joke of a movie, couldn't even watch it all since it was THAT bad..!

reply

Worse than Spike's Old Boy remake?

reply

Probably, if you noticed, all Spike Lee's movie picture the blacks as super heroes and very generous, honest decent people. while all whites are portrayed as evil monsters and thieves.

Yes
