Andie's a bad actor

Does anyone agree that andie MacDowell got acted off the screen by Anna Chancellor and Imelda Staunton who gave class performances. It's typical that the american gets the lead part, and she's just not that good.

Madonna and Paris Hilton are bad actresses. Andie is adequate at worst and good at her best (such as in Crush). I was pleased to see her in this movie where she is given a chance to show more of her talent. Makes you wonder how many "bad" actors out there could be much better than we realize if they had a good script and good director.

With 52 titles under her belt, and a wide range of well-known actors she had worked alongside in many different movies/TV series with various genres (from Bill Murray to Ben Kingsley, from John Travolta to Harvey Keitel, from Hugh Grant to Brendon Gleeson, from Andy Garcia to Warren Beatty... from comedy to drama, from romance to war, from thriller to mystery, from adventure to fantasy...) Andie MacDowell is anything but a bad actor. No actor in Hollywood would ever last that long and with that kind of career while offers keep coming in year after year. If she couldn't act, I'm sure Hollywood executives, producers, directors (and even her fellow actors) would not want to be anywhere near her, let alone working with her in such a long span of a career. I love her since the first time I saw her in a small role in St. Elmo's Fire. Some of her outstanding works include: Four Weddings and a Funeral, Green Card, Sex, Lies, and Video Tapes, Groundhog Day, Harrison's Flower, The Object of Beauty, Bad Girls, Unstrung Heroes, Multiplicity, The Muse, Beauty Shop... and of course, Crush!

I don't agree at all, she's a fine actress - she isn't a Meryl Streep but she played the part as it required. Typical that the American gets the lead part? Ok "Jodie Foster" - or is she not American? I can't remember.....

Ridiculous comment. Please direct us to your IMDB acting page and list of awards.

Not me, I thought Andie played the part very well and was quite a sympathetic character. I think the direction was rather uneven however. The actresses saved the movie from itself. Andie will never be a top tier actress but she is way above average, particularly as a actress that came to the business via modeling. There is a certain comfort and discomfort she can exude in front of the camera that I appreciate. It really shows in Three Weddings.
