It's funny, a friend asked me this same question the other day and on hearing my reply slapped me across the face. He really doesn't like Hugh Grant. Says he always plays the same part. (note to those concerned, he didn't hit me hard and thats the way we are with each other, it's not real violence)

colin firth, hands down. his character beats grants, clearly, but that's not why. i get the feeling watching hugh grant act that he is extremely charming but veryyyyyy full of himself and thinks he's alot cooler than he actually is, or that women everywhere start drooling the moment he comes on film. the fact that he portrays basically the same character in every film he's in doesn't help matters either, i mean, the characters he picks themselves are pretty diverse, but he plays them all exactlyyy the same, it drives me crazy to watch him. he was funny in this, but his hair and the fact that his face looks like an aging woman, one who wears loud clothing and ethnic jewelry and cuts their hair short and spikes it, really just didn't do it for me. also i dislike the fact that he says such nasty things about colin firth in the commentary for the edge of reason, even if it was in good fun as he claims, in my opinion, he took it too far.

I think in the context of the characters they played in this movie, it would definitely be Colin... I don't find either one - especially Hugh - overwhelmingly handsome... If I saw either on the street, sans their celebrity, they'd both look like "common folk..."
