Was Bobby gay?

Was Bobby a closet homosexual? He seem like he might have been. He kept watching homosexual porn movies.

reply

I figure that he was and that he and Marty might have been lovers, which is why he resented Marty's girlfriend. I wish the movie had explore Marty and Bobby homosexuality more it would have explained Marty's batter wife syndrome.

reply

I don't wish they explored it more. Subtlety is better than heavy-handedness - Clark knows that less is more.

reply

Clark knows that less is more? no. otherwise it wouldn't have been so many nude & sex scenes.

reply

LOL Exactly, lady. If they were closeted, why were both so eager to be with women? Is it that easy for gay men to get it off?

reply

You've never heard of bisexuality?

reply

Read the book then, it's all in there.

reply

Pretty much. He was one of those gays that was gay because women for him were so easy to screw.

When he got a bit older he'd probably go back to being straight.

reply

Seemed completely obvious to me, how could Bobby not be gay? He had to watch gay men porn to get hard while screwing actual girls, and he was in love with his best friend. Knowing his best friend he was in love with wasn't gay (thus could never reciprocate his love) was why he acted the way he did towards Marty.

reply

I think Marty was gay too, he just didn't like the way Bobby treat him. Bobby made him strip for guys for money. Technically Marty didn't have to do any of the things Bobby told him. But he did it because a part of him loved Bobby. Bobby was probably his first sexual experience which is part of the reason Marty couldn't just walk away from Bobby sooner. He kept thinking that things would get better, or that Bobby would change.

Bobby was a closet homosexual but because of his upbringing he couldn't accept himself as gay so he took his anger out on Marty.

There's a basic sexual orientation--straight, gay, bi (and some borderline areas between the three)--but then there's sex drive. Some guys have such a strong sex drive, they're willing to have sex with men even if they're basically straight or have sex with women even if they're basically gay. Who knows with Bobby and we can't really ask him, can we?

There ARE clear cases of guys going from bisexual to heterosexual as they get older. It's kind of "politically correct" point of the gay community to claim that sexual orientation doesn't change, but the inconveniently it clearly does sometimes. My theory is the hornier you are, the more bisexual you tend to be, and that's particularly true of straight men (since it's easier to have a lot of sex with men than a lot of sex with women). Conversely, most men become less horny as they get older, so IF they weren't strongly oriented towards homosexuality to begin with, a "bi" could turn straight.

While I'm sympathetic to the gay community trying to be more socially accepted, it's annoying when they claim people like me basically don't exist. Sexuality is a mystery that no one really understands.

reply

or just humansexual. or he was sexually confused. people and orientation shouldnt be debated do whatever makes you feel good as long as its consensual. rapists deserve to burn just like Bobby

Hurt me again its not worth saving. Heart I've spent my whole life breaking. I've been stung by wasp

reply

People like you don't exist hopefully in 2023 you realize that (:

reply

The movie kept my attention but I wasn't sure about the gay aspect of it and why that was important. Overall, I liked the film. I like the use of some of violent scenes where they did not show it. The scene where they brought the bat down in front of the car was pretty graphic by imagination only. I like that.

reply

Its based on true story

what kind of question is this?

reply

A completely logical question. If you saw this movie, you'd see why someone would ask this.

Respect what you have 🌌

reply

he probably means...'if so, then what of it"

I think he is questioning the practice of ever asking this about anyone at all.

Of course, here, it may have real pertinence...Bobby is not just a macho teen , but he is middle-eastern...if he is in fact queer, could be imagined how this would twist him inside out even more..

reply

not only watched them, but made at least one...but he himself did not 'star" in it...they 'directed" it.

Certainly at best I think he had very fkd up sexuality..and there WAS a continual focus on male gay homosexuality without us knowing for sure what his level of participation was.
Anyway, the "kent" family background is probably illuminating to some extent on that score. That was not their real name.

reply

Definitly, closet though, wanted to be banging his friend... Which is probably part of why he got so frustrated with him alot and punching him around and stuff

Usually he had no interest in banging that girl (Alley?) unless he was coming with him and they very often had sex in the same room, car etc

And of course when that new girl at the shop asked his friend for his number he cockedblocked him and said "what about your gf?"

I'm gonna refuse you an offer you can't make

is one way of interpreting that, but of course a perfectly heterosexual frenemy ahole might just as easily do the same thing...out of jealousy , but not gay jealousy, just being a general turd not want his 'buddy' to pick up the hottest and most promising chick in the movie, way out of the league of the material both of them usually kick around with each other.
