Unbearably annoying

I was watching this movie on TV and had to change the channel every other time Vince Vaughn spoke, he was so painfully and excruciatingly annoying it was like glass taking skin off my penis. I know it was part of the character but it was to much, it wasn’t funny it was retarded.

Skin it, Skin that Smoke Wagon, jerk that Pistol and go to Work

As strangely as you put it, I guess I'd have to agree.

There seemed to be very little point to the movie (a flimsy story line, riddled with inconsistencies, completely undeveloped characters walking in and out of the film,...) other than trying to prove Vaughn can play the most annoying person on earth for 90 minutes.

OK, so this character is an ass, we get it, move on.

I am not a complete idiot. Some parts are missing.

It is annoying when people like you speak bad of this movie, yet i bet you went out and purchased Old School, Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, and everything else that Vince was in playing the SAME ANNOYING GUY.

Get over yourself. Its comedy. Its not meant to have a great story.

Here is another thing, dont want movies on TV because they usually cut all the good stuff out due to naughty language.

I see where the OP is coming from. I like the movie but Vince Vaughn is really f^cking annoying in this movie. Way more annoying than he was in Swingers or any other movie where he plays this character. The whole Red Dragon part was like nails on a God damned chalkboard.

I'm gonna blow her a kiss and a smile. With my luck I'll probably miss by a mile

Do you like to watch movies that have characters who annoy you?

reply

This movie is heaven for anybody who loves Vince Vaughn,John Faverua, and Swingers.

reply

I disagree 100 percent. I love Swingers and didn't like this at all - completely different movies, but I thought this movie was bad anyway.

It's a matter of personal preference of course, but if you can simply put aside the fact that Ricky makes you want to cringe with almost every line, you're better able to appreciate the entire scope of the character. If Ricky were more of a dumb ass, for lack of a better term, it wouldn't have worked. In this case the character certainly wasn't a genius, but he wasn't a boob either. The fact that he could sound logical and intelligent in one breath, while following it with something completely asinine was a terrific nuance in my opinion.

I think of Ricky as the annoying guy you get stuck sitting next to on a five-hour flight who you wish would just shut up and allow you to get some sleep. He drives you to the point exasperation and by the end of the flight you're more relieved to be rid of him than you are to finally be off the plane. You can't stand him, but at the same time his relentlessness is almost fascinating. Maybe he's not so fascinating on the plane, but on the screen and safely extracted from your reality he's pure entertainment. Vaughn was nothing short excellent in bringing "that guy" to life on an epic level.

Vaugh did a good job of being a full-throttle prick in this movie. I kept wanting Favreau to stab him with an ice pick.

Carpe Jugulum! (Sieze the Neck!)

reply

Maybe the skin off of Vaughns penis but not mine, but good call MacGyver!

To watch this movie is painful enough to give anymore of anything for it. I had no idea anyone is so lame and unaware as to let a story like this actually be made into a movie... Obviously Vaughn was in the writer's mind when casting was in process, and the writer is also guilty as Vaughn is at spreading pain throughout the viewing audience....This story is so far removed from the real world that it's a hoax to believe that people are shallow enough to real act like this in the real world. Pain is an understatement when describing the movie..it's more than just a insult , more than just pain or annoyances...This is the kind of move that you would send to your dentist with revenge in mind.

reply

Yeah... I'm pretty sure that's the whole point of the character.

reply

I get the joke, that Vaughn is supposed to be the "bull in a china shop" who is constantly in danger of getting himself and Favreau killed.

But, yeah, it's impossible to believe that anyone would put up with Vaughn for more than a microsecond. So, it gets to be a lot to take in.
