Georges Méliès packed a lot into this short film. A portion of the film is lost, but probably only about 30 seconds or so. The remaining 14 minutes contains a complete story with a number of scenes and adventures. The ending is great, maybe the best of any of Méliès' films that I've watched.

Minor change needed to the listing-- it was released in 1902, not 1903.
