please..

I don't think I'm particularly stupid, but I didn't understand anything.
Could anybody explain it to me?

Sorry, you'll get no explanation from me. I just finished watching "Tell Me Something". About half-way through I had high hopes for all the pieces falling into place, but I was more confused when it ended than when it started. On top of that, I was disappointed it seemed so utterly disjointed that I won't watch it again to try and make sense of it.

neither will I....

My take on the ending/denouement of "Tell Me Something" is something like this: the two women, who had some variety of very intimate relationship, killed the young male lovers of the main character for kicks. I think the main character <I'm sorry, I can't recall her name> was the driving force behind the brutality while her doctor friend/lover? did the actual killing/maiming to please her out of a lifetime of caring for her in some manner. I thought the man in the tank in the end was the main character's father, who after having abused her in some way was killed, once again, probably by the doctor and saved as a trophy. The detective was utterly disgusted with himself in the end for having been fooled by the main character's quiet, mild demeanor, while the main character herself was off to begin some new - and most likely macabre - life in Paris.

Perhaps this is all wrong; these are just my impressions. I rather like ambiguity in horror films and I really enjoyed many things about "Tell Me Something" - the weirdly icy nature of the main character, the two women's unusual relationship, the gore, the detective's own troubles which colored how he viewed the case, the dark eerie look of the whole film, and especially the twist of the women having known each other as children. An interesting & creepy movie!

I pretty much agree with this post, also the photograph shows the two girls and the men who were killed , showing the connection. Taking the bodies apart is a reaction to the way in which the daughter`s mind was jumbled by her father. The doctor`s attempt to kill the daughter may have been a reaction to the daughter`s continuing interest in men (the cop). Since emotions had taken over caution was secondary.

You said: I think the main character <I'm sorry, I can't recall her name> was the driving force behind the brutality while her doctor friend/lover? did the actual killing/maiming to please her out of a lifetime of caring for her in some manner This Doctor freind/lover is actually her Younger brother that was burnt in the fire. Knowing this should clear up quite a few things for you.

I thought that the "boy turned girl" was her friend from their childhood, not her brother. Anyhow, it was a great movie, but did confuse me as to what the character's, Chae Su-Yeon & Seungmin Oh, motivation and existing relationship was.

Several years too late, but I'll post this, anyway. The short-haired young woman wasn't the main character, Susan,'s younger brother. Susan had talked about "he looked up at me" [in her window, from the courtyard], referencing a boy from next door. Detective Cho had a staffer look up info on that family, and the staffer tells Det. Cho that the family didn't have any sons, only 6 daughters. The youngest daughter's name was Sarah.

The main character's father was an artist. He coerced the girl to pose nude for his paintings. The main character had a fixation with art, and the corpse was a sick twist on what he used to do to her. It was to humiliate him.

i´ve seen this movie and i have a question. THE TWO GIRLS ARE SISTERS?.if are sisters ¿why the police don´t tell for it?

Gee....I'm glad it wasn't just me....I thought everything sort of fell into place (more or less) in the Tower Records store....and then it just got weird. What I got from the ending was that the five in the picture were involved in the death of her father (though after reading the previous post, I am less inclined to believe that) and that the two girls then decided to kill their accomplices.
Also, can anybody tell me WHY she would kill that high school student? What the hell did he have to do with anything in the movie?!

and could anybody explain me why the head of the body in the tank is missing?
and why this missing head was about to be the inspector's one (which is explicitly shown by the drawings of his face in the book given by the girl before her departure for france)?

well.. in fact I've seen this movie at the end of a long cinema night, after a lot of other very complicated movies... this is maybe the reason why I still can't understand all the pieces of this puzzling movie.

nevertheless, it still appears a bit strange to me, that people who absolutely don't understand the plot find this movie just "great"... (OK, OK, I didn't understand anything the first time I saw "the big sleep", and I found it great, though...)

OK... Spoilers ahead obviously... I thought it was great that I had to actually think about this one afterward.... My take was that the former neighbor girl knew about Chae and became involved when the peanut-eating detective got too close, killed him to prevent her friend from being found out... Then she couldn't stand it anymore since she had been dragged into it but still cared about Chae so she set herself up (blood in the bathtub) and went to take Chae out... As for the father, I think the others knew about it hence they were all being killed off... The victims were in the photograph.... Just how I interpreted it...
