THE WORST MOVIE EVER! I MEAN IT

Don't get me wrong i dislike Bill Gates as much as the next guy. But some of your comments make's me wonder did you people really saw this movie? Like before this movie i didn't really get why were they givning oscars for camera. But after this THING i realised just how much camera can be bad. Like there is scene where two guys in the suits are sitting in some ofice side by side and they are talking and all you can see are they moveing shoulders,monty-python style. And when main character talks to Gates (or whatever his name is) camera is placed behind him and it is focused on Gates and then main character leans little on the left, and prest-chango Gates is no more all we see is half of the desk while other half is totaly black. And ther is that scen in cafe whit that girl, when they are talking all you can see is peak of his nose and her hair or it was other way? I dont really remember because i supresed all memories of this JUNK.
And the wors thing is that director, cast, sponsors and all other people working on this THING sat down at the end of making it wacthed it and said "I like it i think we will go with this version. Yes definitly this version"
ALL IN ALL THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE I EVER SAW AND I SAW MANY!

Your command of English makes you sound about 5 years old. If you're older than that, you're obviously of very low intellect. With lack of brain power and so many issues, consider psychiatric counselling.

reply

Excuse me because english is not my mother language. And just because i don't speak english that well it doesn't mean that i know less about movies about you.

reply

OT: You're right in claiming that one's knowledge about movies or intelligence in general is not directly linked to one's command of a particular language. Yet, you should consider taking a bit more caution when posting. I am also not a native speaker, but I take the time to look up some words in case I don't know the correct spelling.

Back to topic: the camera work was unusual, and of course it's everyone's right to like or dislike it. I personally think it was something I had to get used to in the first half hour or so, then I enjoyed very much the feeling of literally standing in the shoes of an invisible observer - and I think this is the effect the cameraman intended. In this movie, camera is not about the perfect angle, it's more about "being there". It pretty much fits to the whole subject and the overall pace of the movie.

I know it cannot really be compared, but the directness reminded me a bit of the opening sequence of "Private Ryan". On a second thought, maybe even more of Starship Troopers' news broadcasts.

Hope this makes some sense - after all, I am only German... ;-)

reply

I dont know i think you can't really compare "Private Ryan" antitrust not because of artistic values but because PR is a war movie that insists on realistic scenes and the movie wouldn't be the same without them. And you can't really say that about Antitrust.

reply

Antitrust isn't realistic nor it was intended to be.

The only thing about it, is that it does make a valid point: in our days code is the most valued property and since most corporation depend on secrecy and rights protection, if it's not already something to kill for then it soon will be that way.

As for production values, you may or may not appreciate them. Various people look for various stuff in movies.

However, if this in your opinion is the worst movie ever, then I'm pretty scared because I do think that Antitrust has several things going for it, like Phillipe's more than decent acting, the aforementioned idea and the overall feeling (this last one does depend on whether you get accustomed to camera moves or not).

Worst movies (big screen) that have nothing working for them whatsoever:

Dungeons and Dragons
Battlefield Earth
(Time Bandits too, I think).

reply

pavelle - you are dead right. anybody who knows anything about film looks at a movie as badly made as this and wants to shoot their own eyes out. at one critical point in the conversation between poor Tim Robbins (for whom I have lost all respect), the main kid, and the blonde girl, the camera work was so bad that I couldn't figure out whether Robbins or the other guy was speaking.

apart from that, it is incredibly inappropriate to make a movie implying that a real person has killed people. it's just dumb. and Tim Robbins, what have you done? you've been in so many great movies! is your career really in this desperate a situation?

reply

Please correct me if I am wrong, but Gary Winston is an entirely fictional character. Just like the multi-billion dollar corporation "Nurv" is a fictional entity. The film intentionally mentions Bill Gates, makes reference to some of his technology and then goes on to point out that this story is NOT about Microsoft. If that's not enough to cover their backs, they also have a disclaimer at the end of the film, just like almost every other film ever made, that states that "the characters and events of the film are entirely fictional and for entertainment purposes only. Oh, and please don't sue us."

Personally I like this film. I am a programmer and, while a lot of the film is far-fetched, it has some good nods to geek culture and if you're open-minded you can imagine such a scenario COULD occur. If nothing else it's nice to see a unix-like OS being used in a film, even if the commands were fictitious.

As to the comments about the camera-work, It never struck me as odd use of the camera. The only odd thing about this film, for me, is when Milo is in the cafe talking to Gary when he realises that Gary was behind the killing of Teddy. Gary leaves and someone asks if he's okay, his words to her being "I think I ate something". In a cafe? Eating something? Whatever next?!

reply

Well RabbanTheBeast, basically your statement makes it obvious that you are the 5 year old with lack of brain power...

reply

If you want the worst movie ever, watch "Time Bandits". Now, that's a horrible movie.

reply

I'll put in a vote for 'Deuces Wild' as one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

reply

Aw, I kinda liked Time Bandits.

I think the worst movie ever was Howard The Duck.

Don't play leapfrog with a Unicorn.

reply

Haha... you're a prick

reply

RabbanTheBeast, please go jump off a very high freeway overpass. That's the best way you can find to defend this movie? Christ, it was obvious to me that English wasn't his first language, but you just came off as another spelling-nazi dick. Gratz on that.

reply

It was not the best movie ever made but it was a cool starting role for ryan. Iam not sure how he got the role in the movie Crash but this movie might of put him on the spot for that. Rachael was the worst in this movie her being in it just plain sucked and she should of just stuck to tv namely friends which the whole cast aside "joey" wanted to quit on since they did not get a raise from around 20 million dollars per episode(LAME!!!!)..

Also I never notice any real bad movements of the camera at all myself. There was times in good will hunting where in robbin willams office where the camera was behind matt and behind robbin. They did the same thing in the titainc I am sure.

But your whole reason for this movie sucks is the camera? If you think movies have bad camera action you should see some video games camera movements. But I forgot the camera is the director, the actors and the story. The camera is everything!!!!

Yeah right... :)

reply

I totally agree with pavlle. This is definitely the worst movie ever. I can't remember being so bored by a movie after only 5 minutes...

reply

... yes, it is one of the worst movies ever, but in my opinion a funny one, too. I laughed a lot...

reply

I think it is ok but the worst movie ever is Darkness

reply

Considering that the worst movies ever usually end up having some redeeming value in how bad they truly are. Take Evil Dead 2 for instance. It ends up on the 'Horror' shelves of most video stores, but the special effects are so overly gorey it ends up being funny, so I usually place it in the comedy section of my own movie collection. Time Bandits is the same way, it's so bad that it's GREAT! Some movies were meant to be bad. Now, changing the definition of 'bad' in the middle of things here, some movies blow their 'Suspension of Disbelief'. Movies that do this are so bad they're awful. Armageddon was awful, Robin Hood with Errol Flynn where a guy gets shot with an arrow...that falls out...so the guy picks it back up and sticks it back in himself...and the shot stays in the movie instead of getting edited out or reshot..is bad. But it's so bad it's GOOD!

Okay, it's six AM, I haven't slept yet and I'm babbling, but my point is this...

If you truly want to insult a movie...call it THE MOST AVERAGE MOVIE OF ALL TIME. Because everyone has their favorite movies to love and their favorite movies to hate, but NOBODY likes an average movie. Just in the same way some people like their tea hot and some people like their tea cold (iced), but almost nobody likes their tea at room temperature!

Yeah, I got the same feeling. The story is never boring for me. On the contrary, I find it exciting, nervous, unexpectable, and intelligent (or intelligently written). Unlike other movies, I didn't find many bugs in this movie, though only a couple of them: the installation of the cameras to every programmer, and the violation of Winston's company rules to put all of the non-OpenSource codes online. I particularly enjoyed the scene that Milo and Gary disconnected the satellites simultaneously.

BTW, my vote is 10/10.

reply

i dont care i bought it because rachael leigh cook is hot lol but i still enjoyed the film regardless.

Straight up Andyo 05 same reason i saw it lol and the movie was pretty good.

reply

I agree Andyo
I enjoyed it as well

reply

man does the spelling really matter!god ppl can be such bloody bastards. and on the movie have to disagree liked the plot line but the acting was way bad, i love Tim Robbins, but Ryan and Rachael were soo bad in it, Ryan is way hot but his acting kinda disappointing.

reply

I don't give a damn what your first language is, you're still an idiot for posting the same stupid comment that is on just about every imdb board for every single movie ever made. This is NOT the worst film ever unless you destroy all evidence of every other film EVER made.

Please do not post anymore of these ridiculous statements when you have not seen every film EVER made, you only make yourself the object of derision especially given your lack of education in the english language. Maybe you should post in your mother tongue and then nobody will know what a fool you are.

As to the rest of you wankers that couldn't wait to reply on this topic, well you can imagine what I think of you.

reply

pavlle...the only "WORST" thing about this cool movie is people like you hating on every single movie on Earth (And some from Saturn). But in all seriousness, your overexaduating because if you seen alot of movies and this had to be the worst EVER!!!!!, then I shouldent like it right? Well, I do like it and I think, wait no, I know its a very cool movie. What the hell is so bad about it? The camera work? Oh wow! Like if movies are only made because they need to make something with good camera work. The plot was hot. The ending was hot. And each actor was cool. Besides, so what if this is sappost to be based on Bill Gates. Not like the guy is named Bill Gates or looks like Bill Gates. His name is Gary Winston stupid! And also, it doesnt matter if this is like other hacker type movies because truthfully, as long as its good, then I still like it. So before you consider something THE WORST MOVIE EVER, learn that thats only your own stupid opinion on a good movie.

Ending of this film was a BIG LIE.

reply

And what IMDB board would be complete without some idiot posting a "worst movie ever I mean it" post.
You apparently don't see too many movies if you actually think this is the worst movie ever.

reply

its very bad but not the worst ever

reply

agreed.

reply

I dont go around posting on IMDB how some movie sucks. Be free to check that by looking at my previous posts. And usualy i dont even talk about movies that are BS. But this waste of time, cash and movie tape didn't deserve better. But if i had to correct one thing that would be that this might not be the worst movie but it is definitly the worst of the worst movie i ever saw and trust me (or antitrust me) i saw a lot of them. This one takes the prize. By far. Very far.

BTW it took me some time to realize that someone out there could write " I know its a very cool movie" or "The plot was hot. The ending was hot. And each actor was cool" :-S But then it hit me guy who wrote this comment only could be the same guy who wrote this BS of a script it's ok Howard Franklin we know it is you behind the nick Jetstorm7825.

reply

Can't say that it is the WORST movie, but it's certainly up there. I really don't focus much on camera-work when trying to disentangle a plot. What chapped my onions was how crappy the dialogue truly was. I couldn't digest the fact that those words were actually coming out of Robbins' mouth; and we all know that he's a gifted actor. I found the last section particularly tough to endure, what with the French horns overdramatically swelling in the background while Ryan was droning on about information belonging to the people. Oy gevalt.

It was one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. It's to thrillers what Night of the Lepus is to horror movies.

This movie is better than you.
