I, personally, LOVE this flick

Okay-- so it's a Saturday night... I'm grounded... so I rent this movie and watch it with my 13 year old brother. I had recently seen Blair Witch... which.. kind had me a little frightened ( I even watched it along in the dark) but nothing like the way this movie affected me. I was almost in tears, I was so scared. But I loved it... it was a fun kind of scary. My brother thought it was dumb and made fun of me for being so scared...but I don't know how it didn't even phase him. All in all... the movie is well made, very believable, and entertaining to watch. YES- it's very low budget ,YES- it has slow parts ( but it isn't such a big deal because once stuff gets going its quick and jumpy and you don't mind the in-between), and YES it may seem like a rip off of Blair Witch Project. So what? Watch this movie in a good mood with an open mind, and see what you think. It's worth a shot... make sure you have something to hold onto tho... just incase ;-)

i don't get it.

how did you manage to rent the movie if you were grounded?

lol

at least St. Francisville doesn't give you motion sickness like Blair Witch. My goodness, everyone was puking their popcorn out when i went to see it.

It's been quite a while since I've seen this movie, but I have to say I enjoyed it. It was fun. Definately low-budget and done in the style of TBWP, but I thought this was a lot more entertaining. I know the place is reported to be haunted, but I never once assumed the movie was actually a "True Story." I believe they just hyped up all those promos, etc. to help suspend reality and make the movie a bit more fun. I was scared in spots and in some spots I laughed, but that's what a movie is for. Simple entertainment. Like anything else, some will like it, some will hate it. It's your opinion and your entitled to it. For me, I enjoyed it, being a lover of ghost stories and fantasy. And no, I'm no relation and/or employee of the movie! Don't expect much and just enjoy the ride and you'll have a good time.

omg i hated this movie so much and the psychic annoyed the hell out of me... i think everything was scripted... i hated this movie. bad actors, bad plot, bad everything. the only thing that actually came close to entertaining me was when they were kidding paul (the cowardly ghost hunter! who wanted to turn the lights on while ghosthunting!) when he was about to go to the attic.

um, when you ghosthunt, you turn the lights off. gosh, he should know! of all people! but he was cute, hahaha.

the pyschic was annoying. and the ouijia-whatever board was fake, too! i'm pretty sure she was controlling it. "white light, white light!"

the film maker... eh not much to say about him. the blonde girl too. they were all right, i guess.

overall, i'd say that this movie wasted about an hour and a half of my life, time that i will never ever get back. when i'm sitting on my death bed, wishing i had more time left, i'd blame this movie.

I just watched this and I was conned into believing that it was real too. That, however, did not happen with me and Blair Witch Project, so those of you who say that BWP looked real, here's an example to debunk your opinions. Now those of you that don't believe in this stuff. Yes the people in it were actors, but you have to do some more background checks, such as looking at the house they went into. The house is real, as the plantation is the Myrtle Plantation and is haunted by slaves and other people. Also, the woman that tortured slaves was real and she did all of that gross stuff, but the connection between her and the house is fake. Now on to the movie. As I said before, the 4 people were actors. However, that does not mean they were not qualified. If you notice, the film student's bio shows no acting, but assistance jobs in film(stuff a film student would do), and a switched last name. The last name switch only occurs in this case and with the Team LEader. Now I could be wrong, but maybe the guys didn't want their last names revealed for privacy? We don't know. All we know is that the girls are the real thing, no name changes or anything. And in the psycic's(sp?) case, an actor can have physcic abilities. The Ghost Historian is a real Ghost Historian and is starring in a real documentary about children ghosts as well as other prominent ghost historians. Finally, the things that went on in the house are split between hoax and fact. The light falling, the cat, the medical tools found in that basement thing, and the cockroaches were all fake. These were added by the stupid hollywood company in order to "spice up" the movie. The rest is all true. That and some other stuff that were not captured on film actually happened and were what the original documentary was supposed to find. This is backed by history as that house is the place where torture occured, but not by the people mentioned in the movie. The overall goal of the original run was to create a documentary to show if this place was haunted and what would happen. It was then tampered with to add some "flavor", bad flavor in my opinion. So before seeing this movie, one should realize that although the movie has truth in it, some of the things that happen are fake.

I just finished watching this on Fearnet ondemand and I must say that aside from a couple of unecessary horror film cliche's that underminded the suspense it had built up (the jumping cat and the joker who jumps out to scare the girls is what i'm mainly referring to) it was actually very effective! It does leave lots to the imagination but it works on our primal fear of dark and spooky houses. The film plays out like one of those really good haunted house attractions that you'd find around Halloween time and you feel as if your being led through it with the rest of the cast.

I didn't expect much but was very pleasantly surprised by this.

People either seem to love or hate this movie. Clearly parts of it were fake, yet I too just watched it on OnDemand's Fearnet, and I can honestly there were moments when it scared the crap out of me. I just wish they would've left some things out (the cat, see post above and the silly torture room scene at the end). Nevertheless, I'd call this a pretty entertaining, engrossing movie.

How else could you love this movie but personally?
