Season 3 is the best and worst of the show.

The continuity in season 3 is a nightmare. Forget about what it reboots/retcons from the last two seasons, it can't even keep things in context within it's own season. What exactly are the origins of this sword again? You've explained it three different ways now. The show finally has some kick ass set design, proper sword and sorcery dungeon crawling moments, and good special effects and choreography. Sometimes. This is off set by episodes where absolutely nothing happens or not one but two best-of eps. The slight humor that was is completely obliterated. All dark elements of the show are gone, Zad has become a do nothing blowhard. They completely bungled the Sorceress/Sharak plot line and destroyed her character in general. I mean one minute the show is all "just forget that other stuff" and starting with a clean slate, and then the next it's like "no wait, lets try to address that afterall, whoops, never mind." Tao is there and then he's gone. And it doesn't matter when he is there, he's a shadow of his former character. He's no longer the accident prone wise man with all the answers. He's either a useless self-pitying cry baby or he's just running around following a literal magic map. We got a lot more hot chicks, but usually justified in the writing. And there's more complex plots and plotting in general. The show certainly has a deeper edge (at times.) For sure there's a few shots of Goddard looking just plain damned bored. There's no rhyme or reason to anything going with this Balcifer plot. Bad things are just happening "cause Balcifer said so" when ever convenient. The early eps were really enjoyable, especially when Singer shows up. Some of these final eps have great pacing and forward momentum. If I was funding this show, i'd have shut it down too. There's six or so outstanding eps and the rest is just a mess.
