I have to agree with you, and I wanted to see this movie since I enjoyed previous films from the director, but this one is too long and too boring.
(for me, that is)

I have to agree! I really wanted to see it and liked many of the actors from "Hero", which I loved. But this seemed pointless. Too much crying and cigarettes. And I mean every woman in the movie just throwing herself at Tony Leung, I don't think so.

I agree too, I enjoy films that most people think are slow but this was just blah. I got an hour through it then I just started fast forwarding parts because I kept dozing off.

Yeah, I honestly can't believe people liked this film (but I'm not shoving my opinion in their mouthes). It's horridly redundant.
And I don't mind long films, I watched Andrei Rublev from beginning to end with no breaks.

Just go see 8 1/2 or La Dolce Vita!

God, for a moment I thought I was the only person in the world besides my mom whom I went with, who didn't like 2046.

While this movie was visually stunning, I definitely agree that it was very slow and didn't have much of a payoff.

Yes, I agree~! I ended up starting it at about 2am, and I was so bored... it seemed like a reaaaaallly long movie, and I felt my eyes drooping more than once. But, I did get through it~!

This movie tried too hard to be something it's not. Technically it was cool (I guess), but the story was lame and ultimately unsatisfying. It had a few cool metaphors and such hidden in there, but really, it wasn't worth 128 minutes to get through it all.

for me, it wasn't boring.

it was all about the acting and dialogue. it was great, and found it interesting. Tony Leung pimped Zhang ziyi real bad. HAHAH smooth talker.

i guess you have to watch it with a REALLY open mind.

I felt it was one of the best movies ever please clarify what you are saying.
It just wasn't a few cool metaphor's it was also about poetry and the mood that charachter is always there.

To me it was one of the best hours and minutes i have ever spent in my entire life.

I agree completely! I have spent many more hours of my life watching it Again and Again. WKW is just an incredible master of imagery, sadness and beauty. the story is breathtaking, the pace just adds to the magic by slowly lulling you into the 1960's and trapping you in this incredible colourful world.

People who mention its boring and then use the movie HERO in the same sentance, well COME ON.. hero is a martial arts movie.. 2046 is independant film.

Wha'? I'm sorry but that statement makes absolutely no sense. It's akin to saying broccoli is a vegetable and grapes are purple. YES Hero is a martial arts movie and YES 2046 is an independent film but that is not what contrasts them. In fact you could say Hero is an independent film as well since it technically was not made by a big American film studio. What you should have said was (or could have said) is that Hero is a martial arts movie and 2046 is a romance/movie about relationships.

You guys are all crazy. It is the most beautiful film! Watch "In the Mood For Love" first if you didn't get this movie, it kind of follows that one. THINK people, and WATCH carefully then you'll love it.
