Choctaw and other goofs

1) When discussing the origin of the totem, the native American says that the Choctaw could not have built it, as there was no wood or granite on the Great Plains.

Who cares? The Choctaw lived in Alabama.

2) Apparently the "barrier" was circular, centered on the cemetary? If so, then it was real small, as shown by the scene where the girl walks into the barrier, with the gravestones ONLY 2 METRES AWAY!!.

Not just Alabama, but more so Mississippi. He was probably referring to the Choctaw Nation located in southeast Oklahoma, which was the result of the Trail of Tears in 1831-33 (with several thousand Choctaws staying behind in Mississippi/Alabama).

Still, there are plenty of trees in southeast Oklahoma, although western Oklahoma is a different story. Since he said he never lived on the Reservation and grew up far away from there (Seattle or something; I can't remember), we can chalk up his statement to erroneous presumption. In other words, he thought 'Oklahoma' automatically meant the prairie regions of the state.
