Never played MM8. They are all pretty good. Even though 3 is probably the easiest (usually my reason for disliking a game), it's scope and innovations make it the best to me. I haven't played 5 and 7 in so long, so I'm just going by memory.

i found mm3 to be quite hard...first part was easy, it was just the bosses from mm2 that made it hard....mm2 was clearly easier to me with its simple levels yet interesting gameplay...go mm2! didnt much like 4,5,6 and i felt the snes versions were rip offs...megaman should have stayed on the nes...iv seen the one for ps2 and it just looks lame -.-
in conclusion, go mm2 XD

I've only played the ones released for the Virtual Console and WiiWare. So far, these are are what I think of them.
1. Mega Man 9
2. Mega Man 4
3. Mega Man 2
4. Mega Man 3
5. Mega Man 10
6. Mega Man 5
7. Mega Man 1
Mega Man 1 & 5 could go either way, but overall I tend to favor MM5 more.
