Who is your favorite Dark Angel character?

I just realized in the IMDB psycho desire to constantly delete our back posts we no longer have one of these threads. Okay everybody, who are your favorite characters?

Mine, I love Max- which is a given but Logan and Brin score highly as well. Logan was such a strong, unique character who made whatever scene he was in interesting.

Get it through your head--I'd rather die than go back there.

I only watched the show initailly for Alba, then when I saw Joshua I almost didn't watch season 2. But I must say that I really enjoyed the Alec charcter. I was never a fan of Jensen's but he has good comic timing like Michael.

Marrow was a fav

Though I liked Brin as well I have a thing for Doctor Beverly Shankar (I know not the most impactful character)

And last but not least Ames White was great and I was shocked when I watched the extras and saw how Martin Cummings was so different from his character- he even deepened his voice- wow!

reply

Loved Alec - for obvious reasons - Jensen brought me to show - but found I enjoyed it ...bonus.

Berrisford Agenda was my fav ep.

Oh and a shout out for Normal - raised a smile or 2 along the way!

Watching Designate this as we type actually.

This isn't funny Dean - the voice says I'm almost out of minutes

You know, I tend to agree. You'd think a "morally ambiguous" character, as people on here keep calling her, would have two glock nines?
That was very sexy, and on a motorcycle made it even better.

Batman hated guns which, even though he should have killed many of his rogue gallery-he never did. Punisher is morally ambiguous- and he has lot of guns, lol!
She needed a little more edge.
With the exception of killing Ben, she never did anything to question her ethics. Alec did more "questionable" things than Max- that why I liked her, she was sweet, and loved her friends-remember the Punisher doesn't have any friends.

Nothing wrong with a sexy 19yrs old drinking with friends-at a bar, it just won't keep the show on the air-lol. Which is why the other shows didn't do it with an "actual" under aged drinker.
That's irresponsible not "morally imbiguous."
Killing her brother and running from Manicore- more cowardly than "ambiguous."
Especially for a "super soldier."
Vic Mackey on "Shield" was "morally ambiguous."
Scully shooting Mulder to stop a suspect had more edge, and that was the early 90s.

That's the point-she was "asked" to do it. As I pointed out she's was a sweet girl that never did anything where her morals were in question. She never shot a friend just to stop her enemy. She never killed criminals that were reformed, she never blackmailed her friends into giving her supplies, slept with people for info. And she rarely brutalized any bad guys simply to get intel- Logan got most of it for her. I always liked the team dynamic of the show but the theme was "split up, stay on the run,"-not hunt down our enemys. As were the traits of the character's I named already.
Petty theft? Come on? Dude!
Apparently you haven't seen many fictional or real life "morally ambiguous" characters

- I have.

Tooling? For Dark Angel? come on, I liked the show but it had to many continuity issues and story flaws for me to pick a cyber fight.
Watch Shield.

Lol, well there's nothing like 24. That's the most intense show ever. But if you want to see a truly morally questionable "hero." Than that's the series to watch. But you have to watch most of the episodes to see just how crazy Michael Chiklis character is. The Punisher in print and the last movie are truly the epitomy of morally ambiguous charcters.
Let's face it- all we wanted to do was lick Max ie Mrs. Alba from head-to-toe, LMAO.

Not only did she kill Ben because he asked her to, but she knew he'd kill again if he wasn't stopped. She knew he was bad and he knew it too, but he couldn't stop himself. There wass nothing cowardly about her running away from Manticore. Who would ever wanna go back to that hell?

"When a soldier dies you pay your respect."
They were super "Soldiers."
She could have taken Lydecker out in the morgue- TAC weren't X5s. Soldiers don't run, the minute the enemy shows up.
Max-"Do you think there are some things that are unforgivable?"
Father-"God's forgivness has no limits"
Max- "That's big of him"
Father-"He forgives things, you nor I ever could forgive in others, and in ourselves."
So why not forgive Ben and leave him for Lydecker alive, after She broke his leg?
He kills for the Virgin Mary?
It was a poorly written episode.
Either way that doesn't make her "morally ambiguous." She can kill her sick brother but not the man that put them in this mess in the first place?
Sure as hell ain't Captain America.
Episodes like this are the reason I believe they changed perspective from season 1- season 2.
Logan knew Max was a "killing Machine" he didn't need Lydecker to remind him of that.(How did Lydecker get his address? hmmmmmmm?)

I think it was one of the best episodes from season 1. Just me though. Letting Lydecker get Ben would be worse than death. That's the main reason he wanted Max to kill him.

As for why she didn't kill Lydecker, she said she wanted to know if "her barcode had an expiration date" and Lydecker knew alot more about her DNA than she did. She was afraid that information would die with him.

It was good acting on the part of the cast, that, to me helped cover the continuity issues.
Again Max could have gotten the info from Lydecker then or when they teamed up- never happened.
You bring up an interesting point, that was clarified in the second season.

Son of the morning fire

reply

Lydecker wouldn't have given the info up. He was never trustworthy.

"You bring up an interesting point, that was clarified in the second season."

It annoyed me when they flipped the original story and claimed Max had the perfect DNA. Your DNA can't be perfect if you have seizures obviously so I agree with you that the continuity issues were silly.

Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough

reply

True, but a "super soldier" would know ways of getting the truth without death resulting. That's been my point all along. Continuity on a story heavy show like this can kill any series. I mentiond in another stream, I liked the "coded" DNA angle, however as a follow up to the first season it was a continuity problem. The other character trait I liked was the flaw in the armor of the X5s needing typtophan, however seizures require immediate medical attention, & don't last as long as they did on the show.

Again, not terrible problems, but issues, nonetheless-to me Cameron should have done more research before launching the show.
There's much about this show I thought was outstanding, and every show has problems, this one, to me, for all it's good had problems from day one- not simply the changes made on the second season.

Lydecker was damn trust worthy. How many times did he save the day from the second half of season 1 and the first three episodes of season 2? Loved Lydecker

Alec closely followed by Ben.

Other than Max, my other favs were Original Cindy (boo!), Joshua, and Alec.

If I had to pick a character as a favorite that was one episode occuring it'd have to be, Charlie Smith, in S1 and then Rachel Berrisford in S2.

I hope that they're out there somewhere and that they're okay.

And how could I forget Logan, Sketchy, and Normal?

Don't eva let nobody tell you you ain't strong enough

Original Cindy and Alec. they brought a lot of good comedy to the show even though it was always so serious.
I like Sketchy until he starts spending all his time lookin for transgenics
Tinga was pretty badass.
Herbal Thought was just super positive and I loved that
Joshua cause he was so sweet.

that's most of my thoughts on characters other than Logan and Max cause everyone likes them.

Sam: Jerk
Dean: Bitch

reply

ZACK!! The Zack fanbase is way too small... :'(

Not evil, only misguided...

reply

Herbal Thought - I liked this character and wished he;d been in S2 as well

Original Cindy - Max's bestie and a great friend to have

Max - nothing more needs to be said. Unlike Jack Bauer she didn't use guns, but I can see the comparison between the two.

Alec - smart arse witha sense of humour

I'll also include Logan, Sketchy, even Normal had endearing qualities

reply

No Joshua?

I always liked Lydecker, for me the best bad guys are actually people trying to do good things. Though Lydecker was hated by the rogue X5s he did care in a strange twisted way about them. He told Max that he was trying to create perfect soldiers that would save lives I dont remember the exact quote something like "Send in 1000 soldiers and loose 100. Send in 100 perfect soldiers and loose none" Lydecker reminds me very much of Magneto from the Xmen/Marvel universe both have righteous goals but how they accomplish them is questionable.

reply

I see what you mean, and I do agree with you too. I grew to like Lydecker more as the series progressed; I think the turning point was when I realised just how much he did actually care about the X5s. Shame we'll never know what actually happened to him, but at least there is the possibility that in the show, he may still be alive.

reply

Lydecker I loved to hate but to a different degree than with Renfro. Dark Angel had some of the best villians ever to grace television.

I hope that they're out there somewhere and that they're okay.

Max of course
Alec
Original Cindy
Lydecker

.....and the rest is silence.

Mhm, I like EVERY character in season 1. Even the ones we hardly see like Krit or Sil (sp?). However, Alec is cool too.

1)Max
2)Zach
3)Alec
4)Logan
5)Cindy

max
logan cale
lydecker
and orginal cindy

For me, i liked the regular human characters best. Logan and Lydecker were my favorites in the series and its a shame Lydecker wasn't a further part of season 2. I think both characters were smart and resourceful.

reply

Alec and Zack are my favorite characters. Followed by Max and Normal.

reply

I think Normal was awesome for comedy- and I did kinda cheer for him in Freak Nation, way to show he isn't just another uptight Republican!

^^^^I'm sorry Allison but that is a nasty and wrong comment to make about republicans. I'm one as well but I hated the way those morons where talking about the Trangenics. I liked the X-series and even the mistake series like the dog boy. lol

My fav character is and will always be Lydecker in that series. He was just the perfect character all around and I hated to see him go after just three episodes in Season 2. He owned

After him I liked Max and Alex followed by White.

"We all need mirrors to remind ourselves of who we are... I'm no different."

reply

It's a direct quote from the series, a way the characters described him. And I'm Australian so my only experience with American politics is George Bush and the fact that the Republicans are trying to block changes to their medical system where poor people wouldn't die when they don't need to. (A reference to a quote from the Pilot)

And it's Alec, not Alex.

That 21 Trillion dollar change for health care is unrealistic which is why over 62% of obama's own people voted against it. I'm all for health care reform but just in a realistic form.

"We all need mirrors to remind ourselves of who we are... I'm no different."

Right it would be more affordable if it had been done decades ago- but it wasn't. I'm not getting into a political debate on the Dark Angel board only that Dark Angel was scarily accurate there.

reply

I would have to say.....

Max- Of course for odvious reasons....she was just down right awesome!!!

Logan- Not only am I a HUGE MW fan (come on NCIS!) But he too was awesome! I loved how he was always ready to be in the rescue for Max, whether it was let someone stay at his house, help someone get a new identity and just give them loads of cash or something. And I loved instead of complaining about the world he actually went out and did something about it, granted it got him into way to much trouble but it never stopped him from doing the right thing. He was generally just a really good guy that wanted to make a difference and make the world a little better.

Joshua- He was just so cute and gentle, I knew it couldn't of been him when his brother was killing all those cops. And I love his and Max's little friendship, he was just so sweet and gentle with her. Plus he reminded me so much of Bugga from Tank Girl...I love that movie and he was my favorite!

reply

I think Nikita or whatever its called ripped off DA

"A child's mind is were a Revolution begins."

reply

No- more of it they have, it's not very well since I'm kinda apathetic to Nikita on a whole.

I loved Max, which is obvious. But I liked the characters heart. Time and time again she shows that it didn't matter what people looked like, she'd care about them regardless. What horrified most people, she'd love (e.g. when Brianiac told her he had a crush on her, or her meeting Joshua for the first time).

My other favorite was Aimes White actually, he was a brilliant bad guy. Lydecker too cause you realised he wasn't pure evil and in some twisted way he did care for his 'kids'.

Comic relief: Sketch always cracked me up.

Bauer vs. Bourne, that is the question.
