11.) Josh- Liked him at first, but he just got to dumb to function
12.) Lily- Her causes were the only cool part about her
13.) Brooke- Sometimes funny, but overall an annoying pushover
14.) Mike- What did we really learn about him... he was filler

*Honourable Mention* {Sandra Oh}

1.) Mary Cherry -- Funniest character in TV history.
2.) Nicole -- Such a perfect bitch character, but one who has layers. It helps that the actress was perfect for the role.
3.) Ms. Glass -- I love Diane Delano, and Glass was hilarious to watch.
4.) April Tuna -- Especially in season 2, she just becomes so out there and almost as crazy as Mary Cherry. I love her in the episode where Nicole takes her under her wing.
5.) Poppy -- I wish she had stuck around, she seemed like the "nice" mean girl, but with some spice.
6.) Harrison -- He got a little annoying sometimes, but he was all-around a pretty good character.
7.) Sam -- A little preachy, but I think she made for a good lead character.
8.) Josh -- I liked him, but I think they should've made him a bit wackier. Looking back, I can really only remember the serious moments with Josh.
9.) Carmen -- I liked her when I first watched it, but subsequent rewatches made her rather irritating.
10.) Brooke -- Such a strange character... one minute you feel bad for her, the next you want to punch her in the face. And I have no idea what happened to her anorexia subplot.
11.) George -- I agree that he didn't fit, but he was nice to look at!
12.) Sugar Daddy -- Like George, he just didn't fit. He had his moments, but they were so far and few between that I often wondered why he existed. I liked him with Exquisite Woo.
13.) Lily -- I loved that she was passionate about things I'm passionate about, but that's the only thing I liked about her. Very annoying.
14.) Jane -- The parents were just... boring. They should've had limited screen time.
15.) Mike -- see Jane.

I was hooked because of Sam.

Carmen was a pain in the ass.

1) Mary Cherry - I don't know how anyone could not love her. She is just awesome and hilarious.
2) Nicole - Perfect villain. She had no qualms about who she was and I just loved her.
3) April - Hilarious! She was a great character whenever she popped up.
4) Josh - I always liked him. I thought he was a nice guy.
5) Lily - She definitely had flaws, but I loved how much passion she had for her causes. I always thought she helped many of the characters when they needed it (Mary Cherry in Mary Charity and Ms. Glass in Fag).
6) Sam - She has definitely made mistakes and is flawed, but overall I liked her for the most part.
7) George - I actually really liked George. I know he was boring to some, but he seemed like a great straight man character to everyone else. I also thought he was truly nice the entire time he was on the show.
8) Sugar Daddy - I just thought he was funny and loved his friendships.
9) Carmen - I liked her, although she doesn't really stand out much.
10) Ms. Glass - I did like her but not enough to rank above the others.
11) Brooke - I liked her but found her rather boring. When she dated Jamie I really had no care to watch her scenes.
12) Harrison - The only character I actually cannot stand. He was very self-righteous. He reminds me of guys I know in real life. He is okay, but by the end of season 2 he became unbearable regarding Sam. I just found him to be a tool and do not get how anyone likes him by the end of season 2.

1. Nicole Julian - Amazing character. I loved her as the bitch, and I loved when we got to see how much she was hurting inside. She was so much fun to watch.
2. Mary Cherry - Just awesome. There is no one else like Mary Cherry, a great character. So sweet deep down.
3. Ms. Glass - I thought she was so funny. I love butch women in comedy roles, and this one was especially good.
4. April Tuna - Genius character. She had some hysterically funny moments.
5. Carmen Ferrera - So sweet and perseverant, and such an underdog. She's an everywoman and she's relatable. I loved her. I thought Sara Rue was fantastic as well.
6. Jane - She was such a sweet character, and she seemed like such a good mom. I loved her.
7. Sam - She has her moments where she was irritating, but she was a well-written character and always interesting.
8. Brooke - The same as above, well, except she is a little more bland than Sam. But I love how they took the pretty, "perfect" it girl and gave her an eating disorder and demons. I also like that Nicole called her out on her bitchy side in the finale.
9. Sugar Daddy - He was a nice guy.
10. Lily - Sometimes just irritating as hell, other times sweet and adorable.
11. Harrison - Same as above. He has a pretty bad attitude sometimes though, and he can be a douche bag.
12. George - I liked him and he was an interesting addition, but he was pretty leveled out. I never really found myself really excited by him.
13. Josh Ford - Cute, but boring.
14. Mike - Nice guy, but nothing really to him. That's fine though. He serves his purpose.

I also love Cherry Cherry. She was bad ass.

Nicole, a perfect villain? A laughably weak performance, a cardboard caricature, some overblown acting, and you're impressed? She ruins the show, makes it all fall flat everytime she appears. She is openly venomous and it stretches the believability as to why Brooke would even be in a ten foot radius of her, much less have her as a friend. The character should have been a much more behind-your-back contriving all-sweetneds-and+light in front of Brooke version. And prettier. Tammy Lynn isn't even nearly what was needed. Bad casting choice there. She would have been better, more convincing, as one of the outcasts.

1. Mary Cherry (tied with Cherry Cherry )
2. Nicole - love that she was the unapologetic bitch (and she was so right about Brooke)
3. Josh - I liked that he actually seemed to struggle with doing what was expected of him vs what he truly wanted to do.
4. Sam - A bit judgmental but I Liked how much she lived for journalism (though her Brooke obsession/conspiracies were...odd)
5. Brooke - it's weird...but I liked that she wasn't as perfect/sweet/innocent as she thought she was (and wanted others to believe)
6. Lily - the causes were a bit much but her heart was in the right place
7. Poppita Fresh - her name alone makes her one of my faves
8. Harrison - the way he acted when Sam (initially) chose George knocked him down several notches since he was higher on the list in season 1
9. Carmen - her desperation to be popular was very off-putting (and aggravating)
10. April - funny in a creepy way (sometimes the way she moved freaked me out a little bit)
*George I liked because he was hot, though there were a lot of moments w/ Sam where he was too judgmental and hypocritical to my liking

Just re-watched Popular and I'm so sad that it went off the air. It was funny and different, and I'm so happy that it showed a variety of looks and sizes.

1) Harrison. I thought he was sweet and intelligent, and I think the whole incident with Brooke (last few episodes) stemmed from him being so heartbroken and wanting desperately to be able to move forward. He didn't go about it the right way though and I'm glad he was more of a complicated character than just some nerdy goody two-shoes. It would've been so interesting to see how the character and whole situation developed.

2) Mary Cherry. For obvious reasons, as well.

3) George. I thought he seemed mature and intelligent and actually quite a nice compliment to the immature Sam.

4) Popita. I thought she was funny, it's a shame she left.

5) Sugar Daddy. I agree that he did grow quite a lot as the show progressed. He was very human and believable and I do think it's brilliant that they focused on his relationship with his weight and what impact that had on him.

6) Nicole. Sure, she was a bitch and it's unfortunate that strong women are often portrayed as such (Santana in 'Glee' anyone?), but she also became a lot more human in the last series, and especially the last few episodes. There was also a very believable explanation for why she acted the way she did.

7) Glass.

8) Jane.

9) Sam. I thought she was extremely annoying because she was so incredibly immature, but then again, she was supposed to be 15-17 years old so it's a very realistic portrayal. She was obviously quite a flawed character, but I didn't think she had any qualities that made me love her.

10) Josh. He was a complete moron but I like how he stood up to his father.

11) Brooke. I just felt her character was so stereotypical - the blonde, pretty cheerleader who has the quarterback boyfriend and the eating disorder. It just didn't do it for me. At certain times I felt she was quite mature, but at the end of series two I just couldn't stand her and her sense of entitlement. I also thought the whole thing with her and Harrison was pretty silly, they had already agreed to just be friends and then it was brought back up again? Urgh.

12) Carmen. I know people liked her and I thought Sara Rue played her well, but I just didn't like the character. I thought she was pretty naive and filler.

13) Lily. She didn't bring anything to the table apart from her causes. She was so self-righteous and annoying because apart from those causes she had absolutely no personality. It also annoyed the hell out of me that even though she got MARRIED to Josh she still didn't want to have sex with him. I just found it very unrealistic.

1. Mary Cherry - Rock me Amadeus - most entertaining character in the history of TV
2. Josh - got way funnier in the 2nd season - should have had more showtime
3. Harrison - sweet but flawed - did very well at the 'emotional' scenes
4. Brooke - her character improved - loved to see her break out of her own controllyness in the 2nd season
5. Nicole - such an awesome 'bad guy' (was actually a little irked when they added the adopted-arc in her storyline - they didn't need to make her sympathetic - she was so great as a monumental b*tch)
6. Sugar - his friendship with Josh was fantastic - especially the episode where they 'break up' and get back together again ('you had me at YO')
7. Glass - wouldn't have been Popular without her (but I wish Sandra Oh had stayed longer than the first couple of episodes - she was HILARIOUS)
8. Sam - slightly more interesting than tap water
9. George - blander than tap water
10. All the nerds - Tuna sisters and that English-accent boy - AND the conjoined twins!!
11. Carmen - it was draining watching her try to become popular almost every week - then she was so proud of how she stopped caring - except when did that actually happen?
12. Lily - GOD, what a total drag - I was just dying for someone to call her on all her BS - she used her causes to get attention and feel superior - but in actual fact was totally shallow (remember the episode where she pretty much bullied Josh into cutting his damn mullet?)
13. The parents - oh God, just disappear - hated their behaviour in 1st episode in particular

1. Mary Cherry - loved how she was just so free going and she was the comedic relief to the whole series. I am a huge fan of Leslie Grossman she was the reason why I started watching this show.
2. Sam - I honestly felt I could relate the most to Sam to my own life. She may have flawed but she did have understandable reasons why she would be mad. Honestly I think she should of opened up to her mom or Brooke about the marriage thing and explain her exact reasons but then again she likes to be kept quiet kind of like me. Shes not open and as well I dress a lot like her too. love her style.
3. Nicole - I LOVED Her personality and everything she said was so spot on. Her character may have been like the most evilest one of them all but I loved that. She is a great antagonist character.
4. April - Another great comedic relief who I began enjoying a lot in the second season. She just was so funny and I loved how she stayed true to who she was.
5. Josh - I think he was a pretty hilarious character and one with another great comedic relief for the guys. I loved how he would be silly yet serious at the same time his character was well mixed.
6. Sugar - even though he started disappearing near the end of season 2 I thought he was pretty cool and fun. He was such a great character and thought he was a sweetheart especially with Josh.
7. Popita - I thought even though she was in a few episodes she was hilarious and she was just fun like Nicole and Mary Cherry. It would of been great if she was in season 2.
8. Glass - the teacher may have been evil but she was a great antagonist for many plots too I believe at the end of the day she was a good person and she gave her students the more difficult ruote and I believe thats the way to go to be off better.
9. Harrison - I found him so adorable I thought he was a great character too he may have mixed emotions between Brooke and Sam. But I believe he did have a good heart at the end of the day for everyone. He can get sometimes a little bit overreacting.
10. Carmen - she may have overreacted a lot in the beginning of the series but in the second season I felt she matured more and when she did overreact it was for good reasons. I liked how she toned herself down later in the series.
11. Lily - I enjoyed her causes but I feel she took advantage to use it as a sympathy method however I do believe in the end she did have her heart set to save the environment and that is a nice person.
12. The Parents - I felt they would NEVER listen to their kids and they handled the whole family merger thing horribly. There way of slowly made it worse.
