How was this show cancelled?!

I remember really liking it in my tween years when it first came out, then I stopped hearing about it. But re-watching it, this show was awesome!! Even by today's standards! And Sam McPherson is one of the coolest characters ever!! I hate when they cancel great shows like this.... meanwhile when I think of all the horrifically lame shows that were on at that time...

Updated: the more I'm re-watching, I can see where the show messed up. It starts off with a really cool concept and it's dramatic and it's funny, but then it just gets overly ridiculously silly and its kind of confusing... is it supposed to be a goofy comedy? is it supposed to be a drama? I think they should have kept it on a more realistic level and this show would have done amazingly, mostly cause of Carley Pope's portrayal of Sam McPherson... she is just a legendary character and could have had her own show, but the premise of two opposites coming together was a really cool idea and Sam and Brooke played off each other so well. That should have stayed more the focus and less on all the goofiness and melodrama of Carmen and Harrison or the absolute ridiculousness of Nicole and the twins... it just got a bit off the wall. They needed a cool guy lead too, which they did not have. Such a shame though cause Sam was the coolest. I remember thinking that when I was a tween and first saw this show and re-watching it I actually love her even more.

Also, I love how Sam and Lily are both activist types who stand up for whats right and are brave and aren't afraid to stand up for what they believe in. And even though they come together with that some of the time, the writers could have done so much more with building on that awesome similarity between those two characters and creating more of a partnership. This show just seemed like an awesome concept with some awesome characters, one particular amazing character (referring to Sam obviously), and some characters that may not have been awesome on their own but who's placement was essential and created a brilliant story, and then it just dwindled into a bit of a chaos... as if the creators themselves were confused as to what they wanted this show to be and were just writing new scenarios as they went along as opposed to focusing on this great potential story as a whole creation. I actually think this show would have lasted a good 10 years if it went with the more dramatic direction it seemed to start in and somewhat stay in with its main premise, and less in a goofy off beat comedy that just wasn't for everyone.

Moving it to Friday nights , killed it. This show was directed to teens mainly and everyone went out on Friday nights not stay home and watch tv (well I did but I was in 8th grade lol ) thus the rating decreased

It would have been interesting to see how season 3 dealt with brooke car accident

- they move the show to fridays

- some of the storylines were ahead of its time

- i REALLY don't think the show was targeted to the right audience. some references were too obscure for the teenage audience to get it. there are some references and quotations i only understood after some years...

Oddly enough the show from the first three episodes to the show it became after that is totally different. I remember the show being on the air when I was a preteen and watched some of the episodes recently on youtube (they're all there). And it seems it started off great and then began to change. Then by season two it seemed to have morphed into a bizarre satire that relied on a lot of shock value and odd scenario's. Popular again, in the earlier episodes presented itself as kind of a teenage drama between two girls at odds. And then that idea totally went off the rails.
