Man I miss the old WB

Roswell, Veronica Mars, Buffy, Dawson's creek, One tree hill, Supernatural, Smallville. Except for vampire Diaries and Nikita the new CW sucks ass. I don't count Supernatural and Smallville since it was a original WB show. Same as Tree hill.

I agree (though I've never been too interested in Nikita) and hate how the shows that have the potential to be as good as the old WB shows (like Ringer and countless others over the last few years) get cancelled too soon.

I use sarcasm online because it's easier than driving to your house and punching you.

You should watch Nikita. Best show on wb/cw ever!!

Oh yeah, the Old WB had some iconic line-ups, here's one of my favorites from the 2002-2003 season:

Angel - Season 4
Charmed - Season 5
Smallville - Season 2
Birds of Prey - Season 1

"Just tell the minister, I'm gonna be a few minutes late". *Cue John Williams' Superman theme*

Charmed was pretty good, Alyssa Milano holds a special place in my heart.

Absolutely true! The WB has a lot of my favourite shows: Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Dawson's Creek, Roswell, first 3 One Tree Hill belong to the best/better seasons of the show (which got boring-bad from season 7 on), Jack & Bobby and 7th Heaven is also a nice enough show. Also have just started with Felicity, it could become a nice show too.

The CW has Nikita (but I didn't watch beyond first season yet) and that's basically it. Of course the final Gilmore Girls season and all the One Tree Hill (4-9 which I watched as well) count but as I said, the show saw their best time in the first 4 seasons. I watched all the trailers of the new shows but I didn't care. ABC Family is way more interesting (Switched At Birth, Bunheads, The Fosters) at the moment.

And talking about line up:

2004-2005 season:

Everwood - S3
Gilmore Girls - S5
One Tree Hill - S2
Jack & Bobby - S1

Or simply Everwood/Gilmore Girls/Dawson's Creek or One Tree Hill.

OMG I totally forgot about Everwood! I think I used to watch that.

I didn't watch Roswell on its original run back in the day. I don't know why; I guess because I was 10-11 and it was in the middle of its run and it didn't catch my interest for some reason (which is strange cause I love this type of stuff sci-fi ; fantasy; suspense; mystery; anything that can make me escape the real world). I remember seeing commercials for it cause I started to watch The WB on weeknights around the year 2000. I'm glad I was able to watch this on Netflix. And omg what a gem of a show I missed back then! But yea all the shows back then were great; Its part of why I decided to go with Roswell as my show of the month for Netflix because I miss those great WB shows & I didn't get to watch this one. I had a show for every night of the week back then! Gilmore Girls; 7th Heaven; Supernatural; Smallville (Even though half of those 2 shows became CW). What I Like About You on Friday nights with the other sitcoms and funny shows they had for the Friday night lineup; and sometimes I would watch Buffy and Charmed. There were also those short lived WB shows that only lasted 1 or 2 seasons that I used to watch like Popular; Maybe Its Me; Do Over; Grosse Point (Anyone else still remember those? lol) I still remember that "Oh What A Night" promo they used to air with all of the show's stars of the time. Oh nostalgia......

Living in the UK, I did not get to watch everything The WB had to offer. However, that network did seem to have a lot of excellent shows. I loved Roswell, Smallville, One Tree Hill, Dawson's Creek and Buffy growing up. I was always shocked that Roswell did not do better in the ratings as Roswell seemed to combine all the best parts of Buffy, Dawson's Creek and The X-Files all rolled into one amazing tv show.

Any theories from US viewers as to why the show did not do better as other WB shows at the time?

reply

Yeah, I have a lot of memories of WB11
